Default Tonneaus removable by one person

Hey all-

I've got my tonneau choices narrowed down quite a bit based on my needs, but the one remaining issue I wanted to ask about is what tonneaus can be removed by just one guy.

I had an Extang Fulltilt (vinyl cover, hinged at the cab) on my old truck, and I could take it off and put in on by myself, but that was a quad cab Dakota. I imagine the 6.5' version would probably by possible but a bit more difficult.

I'm assuming the soft folding covers (like Extang Trifecta) could be removed by one guy pretty easily. I'm sure the solid folding covers would be the same. I'm guessing the cannister-style rollup covers basically stay on the truck.

Anyone have any experience to share? Any other types that I've missed?

Thanks,
Korey

I'd say your on track. I don't think there's too many covers that are completely and easily removeable by one person. I don't recommend covers with snaps.

Anyone else?

It really depends on what your needs are. I've had fiberglass one piece covers that looked great and did the job, but were a royal paid to remove, even with two people. And it seemed like I always had a need to remove it.

I like the retractables but I think they require some maintenance and they gobble up some bed space. I almost bought one of these but didn't want to give up that bed space and worried about ice or snow freezing in the tracks in the winter, which is when I need it most.

I ended up with a Truxido LoPro on my current truck. Vinyl with velcro sides. I like it alot, but I simply need it to keep things out of sight and protected for the elements. It stays pretty dry in there, it's easy to get into, it's very easy to remove, looks good and is fairly quiet, which was my main concern going with a vinyl cover.

The Bakflip works good for my needs. I've only had it 3 weeks so I'm not sure about the quality because some other members have had some problems. So far I like it, it could easily be removed by one person. It's not totally waterproof but it's good for me. I really like the fact that it sits flush with the bed.

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided I'm ordering an Extang Trifecta this evening. Also, I called Extang Customer Service and they said if I buy the version for the rail system, it will work both with and without the rail system installed. The version for the rail system just includes a couple of extra pieces that mount in the rail track.
