Question Fender Flare Replacement from trim to limited.

Hi all, I have looked through most of the discusion forums and have not seen this question addressed. I have a 2002 Tundra SR5 without any fender flares. I currently only have the chrome type of trim. I have just bought a set of fender flares off of a 2000 limited. I understand that the limited flares have clips holding them in place. My question is do I have to drill holes in my fender for these clips or can I get away with using 3M tape to hold the flare to the fender. (I do plan on still using the bolts under the fender lip.) I just didn't want to have to drill holes into the fender unless I absolutely have to. I understand the IS flares only use the 3M tape which is what got me wondering.

thanks

Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice Ryan,

I have completed the change and it looks great. I did not use the clips and cleaned both surfaces really well. It seems to hold very well but I guess time (and a few car washes) will tell. I have posted some before and after pics for on my profile for anyone interested.

Mike

Do the limited flares stick out further than the SR5~Chrome ones? If so do they look okay with stock tires?

Not to speak for ELMIKET but yes they do still out MUCH further than the chrome strips.

I believe the Limited ones have about a 3" depth to them. Where as the Chrome strips have maybe 1/2" or so.

IMO I think the IS flares are a happy medium, the chrome strips don't stick out far enough and the Limited ones stick out a little too far.

Peid is right, the factory flares are quite a bit larger than the chrome stips. I have some pics in "my photos" showing both the chrome stips before and the flares after which show them in pretty good detail.
