What is the differance between the factory and IS flares?
Thanks.
the factory flares are bigger (wider) and have the mudflaps moulded into the bottom area, the IS flares are smaller, and do not have the bigger mudflap. it has something but its not much in the way of protection.
The factory flares look goofy unless you have enough tire to really fill the wheel wells, the IS flares look much better with tire sizes that most of us will use, i.e. 245/255/265 70/75 16's.
I have the IS flares, look at my pictures and you can see they don't stick out near as far as the regular ones such as the limited.

My white ones off of my 03 Stepside will be available just as soon as i can figure out what to do with all of those square holes that will be left in my bed. Does anyone know if the IS flares will go into the same holes as the factory TRD flares do on an 03 stepside. Thanks.Originally posted by asoltan

Has anyone installed their IS kit and left the factory flares on? How do you think it looks? I just got my IS kit and I am trying to decide if I should keep the standard flares and just install the TRD grill and bumper cover or if I should take the factory flares off and install the complete kit. I'm trying to decide if it is worth the extra work.
Thanks for your comments.
I personally think the Ivan flairs look alot better but you pay a small price in the amount of protection they provide.I'm used to seeing the Ivans on my truck and whenever I see a Tundra with regular flairs it's the first thing I notice.I say go with the Ivans,no doubt about it.![]()
I like the protection my factory TRD flares provide. I work on a construction site and the sand, mud and dirt that inevitably get kicked up are deflected mostly by the flares and mud flaps.Originally posted by gatundra

I have 285/75 R16 BFG all terrains and 16x8 inch IS wheels. The look is perfect, with the rubber sticking out just a hair past the flares, but mostly covered for protection. I had my front mud flaps removed for a while, but found that without them, mud was gettin' kicked up all over the truck.
Of course, this is just my opinion and suits my needs. The IS flares are nice, but for me, I'm sticking with the limited/TRD flares.

I have a pic of my Ivan Stewart kit and stock flares. I guess they are the same as Limited flares because it is an SR5 with the "color keyed fender flare" option and not TRD Off Road. I think it matches up pretty good and looks fine. I haven't decided if I'm putting on the IS flares yet.

Good picture tlcatundra. I think it helped me decide to keep the factory flares on instead of the IS flares. I just can't see spending that much time to change them out if they look as good as yours with the rest of the IS kit. I will try to make a final decision in the next couple of weeks while it warms up enough to do the work.
Maybe it's just the photos, but I think you already have the I.S. flares. The Limited flares (same as the TRD flares) seem much bigger than the ones on your truck.Originally posted by tlcatundra

I think you have the IS flares too.... Only because I dont see the intergrated mud flaps on the flares, you have the ones used with the chrome ones like mine.
