Default Will Ivan Stewart grille fit with factory hood protector?

I'm considering getting the Ivan Stewart bodyworks/aero kit for my '02 Tundra SR5 (has the TRD Off-Road package) and I'm wondering if I can still use the factory hood protector (read: tinted bug shield) with the new TRD grille?

This aero kit I'm considering is part #00602-52505-202 (Black). I saw that peid has a "Form Fit Focus Bug Shield" and in checking out his photo's the front-end looks awesome with the TRD grille and bug shield (very nice peid!) Can anyone offer some advice regarding this?

Pied, I saw your post re the new and old style TRD grilles under Personal Classifieds, so it sounds like you know your stuff:

"New Style=Lighter Weight, T-Bolts Mounting Hardware, Lower Part Doesn't Align With Truck, Top Of Grille More Flush With Hood

Old Style=Heavier Weight, Studs Mounting Hardware, Lower Part Does Align With Truck, Top Of Grille More Curved To The Hood"

The bummer is, if I end up with a newer style grille (when was the cutover?) the more flush look with the hood would be covered by my hood protector (assuming I can still use it), but the lower part now won't align with the truck. Just the opposite of what I need!

Thanks for any advice you can offer...

Seee-ya!

Jim.

Simple answer, it won't work. You may be able to modify it to work. I installed the aero kit and had the Toyota bug shield, didn't see an easy way to modify it to work, so I will be giving it to my father who also has a Tundra. Besides, who wants to hide any of that TRD grille? Now I don't have any bug shield, may buy the Form Fit, but not yet. I have seen several of these bug shields offered in the classifieds so I guess everyone getting any aftermarket grille(sportscraft, IS, billet, etc..) comes to the same conclusion. /Mike

I just installed my TRD grill this morning. I have the form fit bug shield and it works great. I also have the older style grill which is heavier. My IS kit that I just got from Nashua says it was packaged in Jan. of 2001. I uploaded a pic to my photos if you want to check it out.
