Question Runnning boards or step for Tacoma D-Cab

Hello All. First time Toyota Truck owner here (2003 Tacoma double-cab). I love it so far, but of course time is the true test. Anyway, one issue i have with the truck already is that it's kind of high for my wife to step up into. Anyone know of a good site to find step ups or running boards? I've looked but really haven't seen a lot available. I'm also looking at bed extenders so I'd be grateful for any recommendations on good places to look for accessories in general. Thanks for your help. John

The Toyota dealers have the running board kits now, I believe the price is somewhere around $275-300 at those which discount.

Dealers may have the factory option tube steps available also, although tube steps seem to be rather generic and widely available at truck outfitters.

And ebay is always an obvious choice. If you are looking at running boards there, be very careful. Some sellers are saying the boards are worth $900-1200, which is blatantly untrue.

Nuts to running boards. If your gonna put somethin there it might as well be sliders, which also act as steps and lift points.

This may seem counter-intuitive, but some of us buy our trucks purely for ON-road use!

I know man, I was just sayin, cause they're the same price or cheaper as steps. And they can be useful in preventing door "dings" from other cars. Nothin more satisfying then comin back to the truck and see the car next to you has a big ole dent in their door cause they opened it too far.

Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean. The only thing worse than that is being there when it happens, seeing them nonchalantly FLING it open (grrrrrrrrrr!!, steady!, steady!).

i would get some nice Manik bars... the nice thing about those is that you dont have to drill holes in the frame of the truck... i had manik steps before on my tundra and they were great....
