Question Removing Wood finish on '02 Tundra LE

Has anybody sanded down the wood finish on the center console and the windows controls on the door? I'm thinking about sanding it down and maybe spraying it satin black but I thought I'd see if anybody has done this already.

I did a search and didn't see anything but wood sticker removal on the newer tundras.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the '02 Tundra but my '05 Tundra DC LE has wood finish inserts that are plastic. They look real enough until you get scratches. My recommendation is to not sand these down but to take them out and replace them. I've heard of people sanding down the plastic behind these overlays and painting them but to me, thats a bunch of work for high-risk because these areas can scratch very easily and a good paint job is foiled with the first scratch.

Take a look at these guys... Wood Dash Kits, Dash Trim Kits - WoodDash.com
Pricing is reasonable and they've got a lot of choices.

I'm planning this for my '06 XSP soon. I'm going to a professional body shop though, they are also going to be painting my 20" Enkei rims white w/ polish lip and with the extra paint do my interior.

What kind of shape are your wood dash pieces in. I could be interested in a trade. I have an 02 SR5 with all black inserts. Parts should be universal.
