Default Hood Protector 2002 Tundra

Purchased a hood protector for my 2002 Tundra at the Toyota Dealer. Part Number PT427-34030. The instructions had highlighted it was for a 2003. The harware bag also had 2003 Tundra printed on it. Called the dealer and they insured me it was the correct hood protector for my 2002. I just cant get the clamps for the grill to work. Seem to be to long and at the wrong angle. Any input would be appreaciated.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on your offer. Notice you live on Bell road. Thants pretty close to where I live. Dealer is suppose to contact me tommorow. I will let you know how it turns out. Might be they included the hardware for a 2003. I think the 2003 grill is different form the 2002. Your truck looks great.

Thanks 12,

I appreciate the kind words. Yeah, keep me posted. If it gets to the point where you feel that you cant get anywhere with them, PM me here and we'll set up a lunch somewhere in the northwest valley and tackle that hood. (i enjoy having lunch and getting stuff done. Just ask any other AZ members. )

Talk to you soon.

Found the problem with the Hood protector. The dealer called Toyota headquarters and the PN PT427-34030 that they say fits the 2000 to 2003 is a error. PT427-34030 only fits the 2003. They have discontinued the Hood Protectors for 2000- 2002 (PT427-34010) I did find one in Texas that a dealer had in stock. Thanks for all the help.

Seems really weird they would drop the bug shield for 00-02 and then make a new one that doesn't work for the same body style. Just weird.

I have the same exact problem with an 05 Tundra with a part number PT427-34032 hood protector. I put mine on yesterday and fought it for 2 hours trying to get it to line up correctly. It can't be done! The "F" clips are at the wrong angle for the set screws on the backing plate. Once I close the hood, the clamps come loose and the ends of the hood protector come loose and will damage my paint if left on. Got frustrated and removed the thing and am looking for some help for installation. I now have used the urethane and will have to find more before I try re-installing on my 05 Tundra. I will not put it on and leave it on unless it is installed correctly so it doesn't come loose and damage my paint. I will call the dealer on my next day off to ensure I was given the correct Part Number.
