Default Hood Protector (bug guard) for 2002 Tundra

I purchased a hood protector from Toyota shortly after I purchased my 2002 tundra. Only gone 6k and the thing has already cracked. I took it back to the dealer and they were glad to give me another.
Problem is the new one is for the 2003 model. (the mounting hardware does not work with the grill of my 2002) The hardware of the original shield does not work with the new one. The dealer’s parts counter insists that the new shield should work on 2001 - 2003 models.

I've become disenchanted-
Have seen a couple of aftermarket guards on 2002's that came down all the way on both sides of the grill. This looks to be a good alternative.

Can anyone shed any light on the issue with the 03,02 Toyota guards or tell me where to get the other shield that I've described?

The bug guard that protects the paint on both sides of the grill is called "Form Fit" I got mine at the dealer, I think it was $65. it clamps between the grill and the hood. Give Carson Toyota a call they might have a few left. Or email Steve G at Carson Parts Dept.

I got the clear bras. X-PEL is the name of what I got. flyinrye95 gives a discount to TS members. If you do a search for XPEL or clear bras you'll see some threads on it.

I have had a similar experiance. None of the dealers in town had the hood protector for a 2002 P/N PT427-34010. I found one from a dealer on the internet. http://www.toyotaworld.com/accessori..._protector.htm

Good News, I am being told by my Toyota Dealer that Toyota has redesigned the Hood Protector for the 00-02 models. (since PT427-34010 has been discontinued) The part number for the new one will be PT427-34020 and it should be available mid April.
