Default Removing Pin Stripe

I am getting my Tundra tomorrow and it evidently has a pin stripe. Any way to remove it? I dont like them in general. Is it above the clearcoat and do able or under the clearcoat and perminate? Anyone know how to rid myself of it?

Can't say I've seen a pinstripe on a Tundra out here in CA, but if it's anything like the TRD sticker on the sides of the bed, it can come off. I used FDJanzen's technique of a auto paint detailer's gum rubber wheel. Its like a 5 inch diameter round rubber gum eraser. Chuck it into your cordless drill and you're good to go. No damage, great results.

PS--the gum rubber wheel cost me about $15. I got it at Downey and Sons Paint Supplies in Whittier, CA. YMMV, I couldn't find anyone else in the world who had ever heard of it, even at Dunn-Edwards, etc. You need to find a store that supplies auto body/paint shops or try to call or find Downey and Sons on the web and mail order it. Here's their info if you can't find it anywhere else...Bob Downey & Sons West Whittier Paint Co Autom 562-692-0749 11408 Whittier Blvd Whittier CA 90601.
Good luck!

I took the lazy man's route. When i picked up my tundra a little over a month ago, it had the trd sticker, bunch of plastic badging and pin stripes. I requested that the dealer remove them. I figured if paint was messed up or scratches occurred, they were responsible and not me. They would have to fix and not my wallet! Good luck!

The easiest way to remove a pinstripe is with a hair dryer or a heat gun. If you use this along with a plastic razor blade or your fingers it will come off easily without damaging the paint. It just might take a little time.

maybe even better-a product called "lift off". Comes in a very small spray can. spray it on, wait a couple of minutes, and the pin stripe wipes right off. It is designed for painted surfaces and won't affect clear coat. Of course you will lose any polish you have on the finish. I did not have pin stripes to remove on the Tun, but have used it on other cars. You'll be done in about 10 minutes. You can get it at Lowes/Home Depot.
