Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Debadging - General Information", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
AKTNDR,
Even if it shows what I call a "ghost" of the decal, a little Maquires fine cut polish should get rid of it. What's the worst that could happen, you get some more decals. You should be OK.
Jim
SulVento there has been alot of discussions on badge removal here. Go to the top of any page and click on the "search" button. Type in "badge removal". There will be many threads that pop up. LOTS of good info that will answer ALL of your questions i'm sure. It's not very hard at all. Make sure you wax afterwards.

Clean the area around the badge(s). Use the hair dryer (dont let the little lady catch ya!!) to heat up the badge. Get a strip of line between your gloved fingers like a dental floss and "saw" off the badge. Any residual chunks of adhesive can be gently rubbed off, and the film removed with the 3M.
Works like a charm!! Doing both sides and tailgate should take about 30-45min.
Enjoy!!

SulVento,
TMS2U has got it, but I needed 40lb. test as 20lb. kept bustin on me. My buddy used spider wire (It's not metal wire) on his Tacoma after seeing my Tundra. It worked even better.
Get some car wash and dilute it into a sprayer.. Occaisonally spray the badge as you saw through the tape, it'll go much faster and easer... Also, as you get towards the end, resist the urge to pull the badge up and off, what happens is the badge edge will tilt in towards the truck and if you're not careful, dig into the paint.
Take your time...
To update. I went out and did the fishing wire trick. Took 15 mins to get the rear badges off, about another 5 to remove excess adhesive, and then 30 mins to clean and wax the rear.
The only badges I left intact were the front and rear Toyota symbols and the "Limited" badge on each side.
good thing you left the rear Toyota emblem on because that one has holes underneath. i almost forgot about that one. glad that you're happy! it does look a lot cleaner w/out all of the badges!

on the Sequoia the rear toyota emblem is the only one attached that way. i believe all of the emblems on the tundra are stuck on w/ adhesive, so no holes.
SulVento (thread starter) has a sequoia.

The trade mark "T" logo (in the center of grille on Tundras and center of 'tailgate' on Sequoias) is the only Toyota badge I know of that has positive attachment (tabs into the body). Those of you who have replaced your Tundra grilles will know that it is clipped to the front of the grill, not mounted with adhesive tape like the rest on tailgate and body...

CATiger is right. Every badge on the Tundra, with the exception of the front grille, is applied with adhesive. I removed all badges from my 2002 at just under 200 miles on the Tach .
You can also remove the tabbed badge on the front grille and mount on a billet style grille as well.
