Default Debadging - General Information

Just wanted to start this again . What worked best for me was Dental floss. Placed it between the double sided tape and the badge and worked it a little at a time .Then removed the excess tape with my fingers.

I used the dental floss and "goo gone" it worked good and left a nice scent of lemons...lol anyways, a thing piece of twine might work a little bit better and keep from getting your fingers sticky from the flavored floss

I went with 20lb fishing line! That and a hair dryer and I was, uh, stylin The dental floss kept breaking. Even the fishing line broke a couple of times. Followed up with 3M adhesive remover and that was it.

I went to a body shop supply store, and picked up some adhesive remover. Then, I snuck my wife's hair dryer out into the garage. It seemed to take a LONG time, but eventually the goo softened up enough to allow me to peal 'em off with my fingers. The adhesive remover wiped off the leftover glue quick as a wink. A couple of microscopic chips in the paint, so small I haven’t even bothered with touch-up paint.

A few days later, I noticed my wife was using a new hair dryer. Afraid I’d messed up hers, I asked her, “Why a new hair dryer?”

She said, “I noticed the old one just wasn’t heating a long time ago, and finally remembered to pick up a new one.”

Moral of this tale: New hair dryers are cheap. Pick up one if you want to do this. Your wife will probably appreciate it.

I used a very thin gauge piano wire with leather gloves, the wire doesn't touch the paint, and it cuts through very quickly.

Default badges or no badges??? Who has taken em off, hmmm

I saw a white tundra 4x4 the other day. This truck was sweet. Lifted and clean. No badges except the SR5 by the rear door. Has any one else removed the badges and if so what do you think? Are all the emblems just "STICK ON"? My truck is silver sky metalic, I'm thinking it will look nice cleaned up a little.

Suprteck, I think your truck would look a lot better w/out the badges, gives it that clean smoothed out look. I own a sequoia and I removed all of mine. not sure on the tundras, but I believe they are all stuck on w/ adhesive.

mine are off to the point it look's clean and unbroken. Toyota did put to many badges on the tundra and i like the clean look .ive taken the ones off the rear door too and the look is better and to the point of a badge less truck...

also take off those side modlings off too it improves the look ask quicktoy he give me that ideal on mine to do (allready done) but make sure your 2 inch hole's under those modlings are welded shut .....later tundrav8 (fox racing tundra)

I have a 2001 White Limited TRD and I took off all my badging. It is ALL stuck on with adhesive, with the exception of the body moulding. I used the dental floss and goof-off method on the badgine, and a rubber gum detailer's wheel (thanks again FDJanzen!) to take off the TRD stickers on the rear fenders. I love the look, and it is SOOO much easier to wash and wax now without having to worry about those areas!

Default Re: badges or no badges??? Who has taken em off, hmmm

Use the dental floss and run it in back of the emblems. This will cut the adhesive away. I used fishing line because the dental floss kept breaking. Once the emblems are removed take some adhesive remover(I used 3M adhesive remover, available at auto stores) and spray it on the adhesive. Let it sit for about 30 seconds and rub off the adhesive with a towel. I also recommend washing the area before rubbing off the adhesive. Since dirt gets collected behind those emblems and sticks to the adhesive, rubbing it out may cause a lot hair line scratches if you don't wash it. Hope this helps, Mike.

I like the de-badged look also. I ended up taking the SR5's off and the Toyota Tundra emblems on the front doors. I still have TRD stickers on the bed for now. I haven't done anything with the tailgate badging yet, although I probably will at some point. Looks a little cluttered, so I'm not sure what to do. I'd like to leave something there, just not sure which ones yet. Take care, Clay
