Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Whistling noise", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have recently been hearing a whistling noise inside the cab at 60+ mph. It is hard to isolate where it is coming from. Could be anywhere between the left and right mirrors, including the whole front cap of the truck. I can't figure it out ! It just started doing it one day. Anybody else run across this problem ? Thanks, CM-
Are you running the AC? If so, many Tundras have "hissing" noise as the refrigerant throttles through the expandsion valve. This is not problematic, just annoying!
Have you added or changed any parts recently? Air filter, Bug Shield/Hood Deflector......

O.K. I figured it out today. Seems the bug shield / deflector was coming out of the grille in the middle. I have the deflector that wraps around the fender corners and has the 'legs' on it. Anyway, it is installed sandwiched between the hood and grille. I guess over three years the grille became a little loose and left a small crack where the deflector attaches. The wind across the front would cause it to 'whistle' at highway speeds. I am glad it is fixed, it was annoying the s*** out of me. :-)
hey peid, which year vehicles did that TSB affect? mine might be having a little more wind-noise than is normal too. All the reviews i read about the truck, before i bought it, commented on how quiet and carlike this thing is. but mine sounds pretty noisy on the road, mostly due to wind noise around the A-Pillars.
