Question Duplicolor Wheel Coating ?s

I am thinking I want to try this out. I have seen a couple people try this out and it looks good. Just not sure as to how low this will hold up with time, I dont go off roading hardly ever so that won't be a problem. Some feedback from people who have tried this before would be great. I have the 17" rims and I haven't seen anybody here do this the these rims.

Also I am kinda torn between two colors right now Black or Gunmetal. Right now I am leaning towards black, but if anyone had some free time and was good with photoshop it would be great to actually see both options. Will attach a picture below.

Sorry for the long post, it just kinda a big thing. Thanks in advance for the help.

i think it was duplicolor, but not 100% positive. But me and a friend painted his wheels with the specifically designated "wheel Paint" in flat black. Turned out horrible. you could brush the stuff off with your hands. and im not new to refinishing, my dad has been in the automotive refinishing industry for decades, so hes taught me how to do it right. I wont be using that stuff again. But maybe it was just the flat black..?

Well dang thats not what i wanted to hear. I think i will give it a try, if it works great, if not I will go the powder coating route. I really don't think this belongs in detailing though, think you might have looked at it too quick.

I moved it to Interior/Exterior, there tends to be more custom painting discussion topics in here.

I think the paint will stick as long as you properly prime and prep it all. The alloy wheels have a wax on them, just gotta get all that off with a good prep job. Last time I was in the mud, my wheels were clean, but my truck was filthy. Brandon1 said it was the wax on my wheels. (I'd never waxed them lol)

Once you start the prep work, you are committed to the deal man, no turnin' back. I'd use the same primer that swank501 used. It's probably an etching primer paint. He'd be the best reference for this, I'm just kind of repeating stuff I've read in other threads

A good self etching primer should do the trick.
