Question 2000 TRD - Too late to de-badge?

Hope this is the correct forum for this question. I have a Tundra TRD LTD, 30,000 miles, purchased in Sept. 2000. I really liked the TRD badge at first but now I'd like the cleaner look of a de-badged vehicle. However, I'm concerned that too much time has passed and it would leave a deeper colored rectangle that would be too noticeable despite the surrounding paint being in excellent condition. I guess the only way to know is to try it, but I'd either be stuck with the results or purchasing another set of TRD decals (90$?) to replace them.

In your experience, what is the latest anyone has waited to de-badge and still had acceptable results with regard to this problem? Of course it might depend on location/exposure, etc. Lastly would a dealer do this, and would they accept responsibility if the paint underneath the decal comes off in the process?

    Thanks for any info,

    Bruce

You shoudl be fine if you don't mind a little cutting an buffing. Especially on darker colors. It's not that difficult to do and you should be able to blend it just fine.

Thanks for your reply. It is a deep red tundra ltd. With regard to cutting and buffing, I guess it's best to let the dealer's paint shop do that...

    Thanks again,

I have a black 2001... would it be too late for me to take off the Toyota Tundra badges on the tailgate? What do you mean by cutting and buffing? What are you cutting? Thanks.

Default Too late to debadge ?

I bought a 2000 thunder gray TRD 5-02 and I read on this site about debadging and thought why not . So idid it my truck had about 33K on it and when I took off the TRD stickers you could see the out line, I said oh boy then I taking a body shop in my town and he said in a week the sun will take off that , It took about 2 0r 3 but now it's all good and you can't tell they were ever there and it's so clean , and much easier on wax day.

I'm sure you could take it to a body shop and have it "rubbed" out if there is an outline. Shouldn't be too expensive.

I have a Green 2000. I took the badges off a few months ago and had major "ghosting". But after going over the whole truck with a clay bar and re waxing, you can't even tell.
