Test fit passenger side. Tonight I will test beam pattern again, with both new headlights installed. One of the projectors I am going to try to exchange at the place I bought them. (They gave me two with different cutoff shields).
I'm thinking of removing the light bar once I have the HID's installed. I think with the projectors there are too many round lights on the front, I'll see once it's all done.

Busy this week so I probably won't be working on it that much. I got both projectors installed, now I just have to tweak the projector alignment. The driver side is a tilted a little, so I need to fix that. I'm glad I could use the stock bulb seal, I did have to trim it a bit though. Just because the size of an H4 connector is a bit smaller than the ignitor connector. I have clear lenses coming in tomorrow. This will give a sharper cutoff and more color in the cutoff.
I also got a chance to really test my harness. Everything works as expected, high beams don't deactivate the ballasts, and the high beam indicator lamp works as it should.
Here you can see the difference between the two cutoffs. The yellow cutoff is a "pre recall" projector.

Worked on the beam color and cutoff a little bit tonight. I installed the clear lenses onto both projectors, I'm shocked at the difference it made! Now I'm second guessing myself. I asked the place I bought these to swap out my shield that is pre recall to a post recall shield. Now after I install the clear lense, it looks like the pre recall shield produces the best cutoff. I'll see if I can send them back the replacement shield which should be here tomorrow, for a pre recall shield. Hey I'll pay for the shipping, I just want that nice cutoff
Before clear lenses, pre-recall shield left, post-recall shield right
BTW, in the below pictures, the projectors are not mounted on the truck, that's why the angle is so steep
"Pre recall" shield with clear lense
"Post recall" shield with clear lense, see how much worse the cutoff is? It's a whole lot more fuzzier.

just a nice little tidbit of info for you folks...if you have the fx35 projectors with the factory clear lens, you will see a nice color cutoff and all that. Switch that out with the RS FX/G clear lens and you will notice another change in sharpness and color cutoff.
Reason being is that RS has their lenses optically grounded a bit different then the factory CL.
Your projector output and color band looks just like mines! Though I put my 85122+ aside for when I really need it and am currently running a MaxVision 6k D2C. This bulb dimmed output a little, but supplemented the color band especially in the blue and violet colors.
But spotlights on you...keep the pics coming! It's looking awesome

Ok, The drivers side is finished!! Matt at retrofitsource said he would exchange the shield again (he has been a great help throughout the project!) So tomorrow I will return my shield and get a "pre-recall" shield later this week.
So here are the finished pictures for the drivers side. I might change the bulbs out to real philips D2S bulbs vs the ebay bulbs to see if there is a difference in light output. These really light up the road (up to 5 lanes). They won't overpower other vehicle lights in those lanes, but you can still see the cutoff. I drove a while tonight with both headlights in and did not get flashed at all, passed by a few police cruisers and they didn't budge
No light leaking!

If you look really hard from the side you can see my mount, it is not intrusive at all. That big streak on the top right hand side is a bug Second picture shows the reflection from behind the projector. I covered the back of the projector with aluminum tape to block out the light and to create a shiny surface.
very nice post man, it really helped me grasp an understanding of the work needed to do a retrofit.
i have a few questions (for you or anyone else involved in this forum) that I hope you can help me w/:
1. did u have to cutout a larger hole in the reflector to push the projector thru? (i.e. was the stock bulb hole large enough? i personally don't think so)
2. that is a FX 35 or 45 projector? are they the same size? i personally own a toyota myself but not tundra (corolla instead, family car) so i don't think there is much room to insert a larger projector.
3. did u only use 3 longer mounting screws to hold the projector in place? I believe they are just screwed into the reflector correct?
4. how did u wire up the solenoid on the projector? i took a look at the wiring dirgram and i couldn't figure it out. heh I assume that it will need a signal from the steering wheel lever (when you pull back on the switch) and a ground?
5. what parts of the projector did u trim off? i didn't get to see a pic of that.
6. i noticed that you were able to use the OEM black dust/end cap and I guess i should plan my cutting and mounting so that I don't have to modify mine either. lol, good thing to keep in mind. But then i noticed that you have to put aluminum tape around the end of the projector, so that means that it goes thru the black end cap? (i.e. you have to cut out a larger hole in the end cap for the rest of the projector to fit?)
7. did u use anything to seal up the back of the reflector and what did you use to seal up the clear lens with the housing, silicone or epoxy?
8. in the OEM headlight housing i know that the bulb is adjusted by 2 screws. how do you adjust the D2S bulb in the projector? are there 2 screws also? I'm curious b/c retrofitting just mounts the projector onto the reflector and is not connected in any way besides the 3 mounting screws...heh, there must be a way to adjust the bulb positioning...
wow, i know that's alot of questions from one post, heh...i apologize for that but i'm really interested in doing a retrofit and i don't think that i should be paying someone else a few hundred's to do this for me. besides, it'll be a learning opportunity for me as well. thanks for your time bro, much appreciated.
