Has anyone experienced air leakage into the cab. I seem to get dust being thrown up from the front wheels into the cab. I've looked all over the bottom for obvious holes and went as far as temporarily sealing the vents behind the rear seat. Heater is in re-circulate and I looked through the glovebox opening and verified the flap is closing. I notice it here as I can taste the salt dust in the air as I drive even when I'm the only vehicle on the street so it has to be thrown from my front wheels and entering the cab. My other Toyotas seal well and have never had this problem (lived in Indiana for 48 years). Any ideas where to look? (Have 2001 Tundra)
If you have the air position selector ie: feet, feet/face, face, defrost, to the defrost position which blows air at the inside of the windshield the recirculatoin does not work and it will bring air in from the outside.
I noticed that the first time I had to use the last two positions on the air flow control. You cannot override using outside air. Unfortunately, no, that isn't the problem since I knew that. I don't understand why they did wire the switch that way - especially since the recirc/outside air switch is right below.
That is a very good question. If that solution you already were aware of then I have no clue other than if you have a hole in the floor which would require pulling up the carpet to find or if you have a hole in the firewall (dont think that is possible but who knows). good luck on your search for the black hole...
On the old board there was a member that had one of those rubber stoppers on the underside of his cab either loose or missing. He went through a big muddy puddle and got all sorts of water/mud inside his cab under the carpeting. You may want to check the underside of your cab for those rubber stoppers. I do not know how many there are or their locations, but it's worth a look.
Good Luck,
Jeff
