Question Armrest wear

Just traded in an '82 Toyota Hi-Lux 4x4 for a 2002 Thunder gray, Tundra SR5 4x4. Absolutley fantastic! I hope it will hold up like my last one, which NEVER had to be brought in for service or repairs other than worn brake pads, oil, etc! I do have one complaint, and I think I remember seeing it here before. but can't find it now. It's those dreaded armrests are wearing much faster than I anticipated. Even where my leg rests, I have wear. I only have 1400 miles on it too. I seem to remember someone posting that they had the dealer install leather side panels instead of the cloth. Has anyone had any luck doing this, and if so, did the dealers balk? Is there an appreciable price difference? I figure it should look just as good, if not better. What about after market products to fix this? Thanks!

My armrest is showing signs of wear both where my elbow rests and where my knee rests against the door panel. I figured I'd just wait until they wear through and then try to find a wrecked one in a salvage yard with leather interior...
But if anyone is having success getting these replaced under warranty we need to know about it.

i had that happen on my taco before i got my tundra.., so when i got my tundra, i had my wife make me a cover for my armrest.. we made it out of a nice gray bath towel, cut it to fit over the top of the armrest, and then she sewed the towel to a cloth backing, and made kind of like a small pillow case, it just slips over the part of the arm rest that opens up. it looks good, it's washable.. and if it stars to wear out, she'll make me a new one...

I have a 2000 Lmtd Tundra with cloth int.

I have had replace my drivers door panel twice , the first time after 8 mos and the second a year later with a tan leather assy. My dealer charged me the diff between cloth to leather 17.50 each plus labor to install. It looks better now ,and is easier to keep clean also. COMPLETE IVAN STEWART PKG. WITH TRD HEADERS / EXHAUST MILEAGE NOW 58 K
