There is a dealership that wants to paint an IS kit from black to white for $227.00. Your thoughts? Would you do it or is it too risky?

$227 seems fair to me considering the kit includes:Originally posted by stelers

1) Front Bumper Cover
2) 4 x wheel flares
3) 2 x mirror covers
Risky? If this is a Toyota dealerhip and they guarantee their work, I'd go for it.

I had my grill and bumper cover painted for $350, so $227 is pretty awesome. Are they a reputable paint shop?
You might want to see some of their work. If you go off Mitchell's flat rate times, figure the bodymans wages and materials cost, they're doing it for free. If it's legit, yer getting a deal.
It is a Toyota dealership doing it. They say:
"WE'LL STAND BEHIND THE PAINT WORK FROM FADING AND PEELING BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE FOR CHIPPING OR CRACKING FROM LIKE STONES OR BUMPING INTO THINGS. WE DON/T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE THE PAINT WORK ITSELF."
It is $802, plus tax, for the kit plus the paint job. My concern is with the balck underneath. Will it be sanded off? The last thing I want is black showing through a chip or something. I'm also concerned about overspray getting on the non-white portion of the grill, etc.
So, you guys have seen that material painted (changed colors)before with no problems?
The center of the grille can be removed for painting. I had my grille painted. They primed it first then paint.
If you are concerned about chips, have the grille and the nose of your truck xpel'd

They will not sand off the black. The most they will do is scuff it up enough so that the primer and the paint will adhere.Originally posted by stelers

Yes I had my grille repainted to match my truck, sunfire red pearl. Xpel is the brand name of a 3M paint protection product. I have had it on the front of my truck since new. Except on the TRD grille that was added later.
