Default snugtop broken rear glass

I did some searches, saw similar posts about other toppers, but nothing specific to snugtop. last weekend in utah i had my rear window on my topper completely shatter. im guessing a rock from my trailer?

anyway, possible issues with the build of this rear window aside, snugtop wants $500 for a new one. insane. seems to be curved somewhat, and is glued somehow to the lower metal bracket that locks it. cant just replace the glass. stuck with the old frame and questions about how to make plexiglass/lexan glass, anything that wont shatter again, and to try and save $500

Any suggestions or tips? Do local glass shops usually do custom? Can you cut/bend plexiglass in this kind of application?
