So, I just got my new plates in the mail and went to my 03 to install when I thought about the scratching of the bumper paint that will occur from the direct contact between bumper/paint and the plate. I drive frequently through an area where cops look for ANY excuse to pull someone over. Otherwise, Id leave the front plate off. Is there some kind of foam, or padding that is recommended? I cant believe the cheap / ugly holes drilled into my rig......just to attach the plate!!!!

Default Front License Plate

****** An Interesting Addition ***********

In California you are supposed to have the front plate on your truck. However, so many people are driving without the front plate that the State/Local coffers are losing money. The Running-the-Red-Light cameras at intersections normally takes a picture of the driver and the front plate. Then they send you a ticket in the mail.
The various jurisdictions are now talking about taking a picture of the back of your vehicle at the same time as the front to pick up your license number.
I am seriously thinking of getting those plastic license plate covers that only allow reading the plate from straight-on .. like when a cop is behind you.
(The red-light cameras take the pic from a high angle).
COMMENTS ...?

P.S. I didn't even get into the furor in CA of the red-light camera contractor
screwing up the system and citations that were tossed.

Just paint the screw heads with matching touch-up paint. You'll know but few others will even see them.
