Default Billet Polished TRD throttle body cover being designed!

I will be working on a new design 6061 aircraft quality aluminum billet throttle body cover. The first thing you see when opening the hood is plastic / rubber and too much black!

The new cover will likely (still in the works) have a large TRD logo centered (in red anodize)

I Force
V8 (in black upper L or R corner)

I'm not certain I can get practical pricing with (both) red and black anodize so tell me what color you prefer lettering to be if only one can be used! (may need to pick one or the other)

I think I will leave out the 4.7L as I think we would like others to guess cubes, plus could fit newer / larger models....could help ego

This will be a highly polished CNC machined billet, that will be of very high quality. I prob. will rubber mount the 2 holes to avoid any rattles, may add a couple of stainless wing nuts for tooless removal and maybe even add a slot out of visual way to hide some spare fuses.

This is where you guys come in...give me suggestions on what you'd like to see, if practical I could add it.

Will post a solid (cad) model by next tues...and make 50 or so 2-3 weeks max after final estimates come in.

I have been authorized by TS to sell total qty of 50 to TS members
at a discounted cost (very close to my cost BTW) to get some exposure, then it will go to TS store at reg. price. I hope to sell first 50 around $80.00...but need to firm up material and process estimates, plus design needs to be finalized to nail down machine time...so I can get back late next week with firms no's of 1st 50.

Also...I can't accept any orders yet until things are finalized, but you could say you are interested to get an idea of initial interest.

OK...I'll turn it over to...my TS design team...let it roll.

Kevin

Default TRD

Verndog, are these covers going to be made to order? The only reason why I ask is I dont care for the I-force badging, But if it said "4.7L TRD" That would look pretty sweet to me. Black with red lettering would look even sweeter. I'll take one.

Is fundamental! Sorry man, I read your post too quick. Pollished with red lettering would look great. forget I said "4.7L TRD" Just TRD would look good. How about blue lettering?

nice!

...how about one without any coloration at all for that "custom cnc" look? i suppose it would have to be clearcoated tho to protect it...there's just something fundamentally cool about the mill tracks in the bottom of a cutout ...

The red anodize would only be around pockets of the lettering, the whole rest of the part would be
CNC milled and polished finish. Lettering would not be as visable without some color around it, but
would still look good.

Yes I could make them without anodize too, and likely save around $15.00 give or take.

Who all would prefer to see 4.7L instead of I Force V8 on them??

I still think just TRD would be the best, but for a second option, 4.7 L

Default It's i-FORCE

I'd be interested in one with TRD, 4.7L and i-FORCE (my vote is to skip adding "V8" since it's a given). However, FYI before you do any milling, it's i-FORCE not I FORCE...

Seee-ya,

Jim.

Just TRD for me, my truck never said anything about i-Force on it. It's a 2000.

Ok...it would appear at this point that TRD alone and TRD with 4.7L are the front runners. i-Force is on my 2003, not sure about other years.

Not 2 confuse matters...but how about
4.7L
Dual OHC
Just a thought. Something different.

Also I need to find out about 2000-2002. I've read they are made of metal, my 03 is cheesy plastic. Could some tell me if they know they all mount and fit the same.

I could use dimensions on overall length, width at apx. center, the thickness at apx. center and the distance center to center of the 2 mounting holes. ( i hope there are 2 on prior years).

The plan is to settle on a design, and go with it. The possible variations could be anodized or not, but custom machine work made to order can be real time consuming, and most would not want to pay the actual cost. The machine these parts will run on cost 150K and time is money.

I thought of custom lettering...but rethought that delivery could become an issue. A close friend has a machine and I have the design and CNC programming background, so I have to try to get in and out of his machine to keep costs down.

I MAY do a custom few orders "for a few good men " on the first 50, but after that it will be set in stone.

2 more new ideas on possible custom look.

Small engraved lettering left says...... Air Filter Mileage
With a small pocket below that to add a custom label. Many of us have a lable maker that you can get different script and color and I cut a small pocket to attach your filter mileage label.

I could cut a simular pocket on opp. side and engrave above it
Actual HP....

Or whatever you guys can come up with...

Lets keep it rolling. I will add up the votes on what you want to say and by Tues it will be a done deal.

BTW...I'm out of town...(last campout of the year from) Fri AM thru Sun PM...So just post your idea...and it will be a democratic decision.

Have fun Design Team!!!! Yesssss!
Kevin
