This is a discussion thread titled "Water Leak In Rear behind Seat X-cab", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Has anyone come across a water leak in their access cab on both sides of rear seat on carpet.Looks like It might be comming in under rubber roof strips into rear window but I dunno ??
it might be coming in through the cab vents behind the seat. removing the back seat is very easy, there are four bolts, and the whole thing lifts up and out. under the black plastic flaps you will find the vents, check for leaks there.
I removed my rear slider and found two "air bubbles" or holes in the original wet seal. These holes were located adjacent to the two top screws that hold the slider in place. I cut the wet seal in a "V" to remove these holes, filled them with some high grade silicone then applied a small bead all the way around the original seal. "Volla", leak is gone and carpet is dry.
I found a leak today. I guess I'll check along the back wall. Has anyone else found their leaks in another place?

I agree with Sean - temporarily remove the rear seat so you can get a better vantage point with your situation. Good luck!
It is in the air vent on the cab wall. I found it, but it rained all weekend so I couldn't fix.

Just wanted to know if you got it fixed.

chris

I first noticed a leak at the top of my back window, it dripped in the middle. Had it serviced....rained cats/dogs and now there are 2 leaks!!! On either side of the sliding middle window. Soaked the left back seat pretty good. Going back Mon. for them to do a "water test". Man, I hate water leaks, seems like they never get fixed right. Will it be better to get a new window and start over or agree to try and have this one fixed...again? Or could it be coming from someplace totally different?
That is almost exactly what my carpet looked like. The only difference was when I noticed my leak there was what I believe to be a ginger snap my daughter must have dropped covered in mold.. UUGHH!! It's been two years now since my fix and my carpet has been dry since. I really don't remember all that well but it is possible that your rear slider could be leaking and the water is running down and around the vents. The one thing I do remember was that without taking the interior trim off the rear slider, you couldn't tell it was leaking.

Yep. I haven't had any water since I filled in a silicone bead around both air vents. I knew it was the driver side air vent that was leaking because I recreated the leak with my garden hose.

I removed the third brake light assembly to install the antenna for my satelite radio and discovered a small leak afterwards. A little more silicone around the housing stopped that and it hasn't leaked since.

I noticed this leak a couple of months ago I will have to try the silicon idea.
Maybe you want to rethink that. I just noticed that my leak has returned. I am going to try automotive goo next. If that doesn't work I will look into removing the bed

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had this same problem and found the cause and thought I'd post just-in-case anyone else runs into it. On mine, the culprit was a cracked plastic 'drain plug' on the back wall of the cab. You can't see it when removing the rear seat - it's hidden behind the plastic trim on the sides. I removed the trim work in order to find what was leaking, however you won't have to do that to repair the problem - the plug is easily accessible and replaceable from the exterior of the truck, right at the bottom corners of the rear cab wall. I'll post up pics to show exactly where when I get a chance.
I used silicon sealant to fix the problem. I'll try to find a replacement plug one of these days to really fix it.
