Tundra Lightweight Fiberglass Replacement Body Parts
Thinking about possibly purchasing a fiberglass hood or other lightweight replacement fiberglass body parts for the Tundra. I carry alot of extra weight in my truck and am looking for a way to make my truck lighter. Claims fiberglass components weigh 75% less than steel. I have the TRD Headers and Exaust to help me but need more...I've been thinking about the Supercharger but it just cost so damm much... Anyone considered this [or any type of weight reduction, bedsides, fenders] or have replaced the stock hood with a lighter fiberglass or composite one? If one replaced the hood, bedsides and fenders with fiberglass one might have a noticeable drop in weight provided the ratio of fiberglass being 75% less weight than steel. I did some looking around and found this: http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/gu69.shtml#http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/gu39.shtmlhttp://www.glassworksunlimited.com/gu29.shtmlhttp://www.glassworksunlimited.com/faq.shtml Thanks, Finn

I'd put the money toward a S/C WAY before I counted on this method to get back some power.

In the grand scope of things I see your point. $425 for the Hood, $500 for Bedsides and $400 for the Flairs and your at $1325.00. My truck's white so don't have to worry bout painting unless I wanted to get crazy with it... On the other hand what... about $5000.00 installed for the S/C... a difference of close to $3700.00 but the most bang for the buck I suppose. Once again a lot of loot but $1400.00 aint nothing to sneeze at either...at least for me anyways. Hell, if I got that "SUPERCHARGER" Fiberglass Hood then I'd HAVE to get the S/C to go with it...
The hood looks awsome. I have it on my truck, just need to update my pics with it. Doesnt really work out getting lightg weight if you think about it. Cuz with the add suspension and tires and rims it evens itself out back to normal probably....... Plus the wieght diff from stock to glass is not that big of a difference.
when I eventually save enough money thats what Im going to do to my truck, get some fiberglass parts and get them painted to match
the only thing is with those flares, your going to have to get some suspension that will give you a wider stance, unless you dont care to much if it looks retarded loljk. I found this for the front, it gives you 13" of travel and 3.5" wider on either side but its "$4000.00 Installed or $3280 Parts" from Camburg ... theres probly cheaper
... anyways, I like that hood, I might get one myself

Thanks, I think I'm gonna get the hood more for aesthetics than use though it can't hurt my weight situation either...

yeah I really like that Total Kaos kit ... the Camburg one looks to heavy, those fenders look great!
Can you feel any differenc driving, I mean with keeping it goin straight?
Not to offend anybody with the total chaos kit, it's a great kit for any trucks, but for the Tundra, the lower arms looks like twigs or toothpicks. Will that keep up with heavy off-roading. I much prefer the camburg because looks alot stronger. Just my 2 cents of commenting on long travel. Anyways, Tundra 311, your truck is badass, though it is TC kit.
