Red face i need help with hood

i cant open my hood! i pull the release latch and there is only the sound of a latch hitting the air...i think the hood release is not connected or something. i cant open my hood....the outside release works fine but i cant open that one without cooperation from the inside one! any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest trying to trace the line back from the latch and see if you can locate a problem in the line. I know when I pop the latch on my hood from inside the cab, the latch releases but the hood doesn't actually open, I have to lift the hood until I can reach under and open the secondary latch.

Recruit help...have someone pull the inside hood release while you are pulling up on the hood. This should allow you reach under the hood and open the secondary catch.

If the release cable or latch assembly is not broken sometimes you can push down on the hood (don't dent it) and pull the hood release with a "little" extra force to get it open. It's an old Chevy trick.

Now that you have got that hood open you need to lube the latch assembly so that it doesn't happen again.
Use a heavy grease on the hard contact points and a spray lube (not WD 40) to get into the tight spots. Try to spray some into the release cable housing as well.
WD 40 evaporates with in 3 to 4 days.
