Default How can I remove chrome strip on 04 bumper

Im pretty sure it would be held on with double faced tape and would come off with a heat gun. I think it would look better without it . I think it would look better with a full chrome bumper.

Be careful! I've read elsewhere on this topic that the chrome strip on the bumper of '03 and up Tundras is held in place with a combination of tape and fasteners that go through the bumper. Removing the strip is possible, but you then have to figure out how to fill in the holes that are left behind (I seem to remember that there's 8 of them) and paint them body color etc. etc. In my case, it sounded like too much hassle to be bothered with.

I actually like the look of the front of the '03 and up Tundra's, it's one of the things that originally attracted me to the truck. I do wish that having the grille and bumper color keyed was at least an option on SR5 trucks, I would have been happy to pay a few extra $$$ for it....

Ya... I don't get it. You can order color-keying on Tacoma, and it used to be available on SR5 (and you could get a non CK rear bumper on Limited), but on the '03+, the BASE model and Limited don't have the strips, SR5 does.

Cleanest way to go would be to order a new bumper and grille from a base model and have them painted to match.

Has anyone taken you up on your offer to trade for your chrome accents yet?

Nope, no one has yet realized how much nicer their Limited will look when it has those nice, understated chrome grille strips .
