Question Tail light design what do you think?

Hi Guys. I was just wanting another opinion about the looks of this tail light. When I saw it on the road..... It seemed a bit ummm shall we say not that good looking... my 2 cents.

Also is this considered bashing? appologies in advance if that is indeed the case. GG

OK Greg, I'll bite. This is actually my favorite Tundra as far as aesthetic appeal goes. I really like the merge of retro looks with new technology. Specific to the taillights on this model, I like the way they flow within the overall structure, but one drawback I see is in the aftermarket. That's a big assembly to design and package.

It is mine too. When they first came out I thought naw, not for me. If I had it to do over, I probably would buy a step-side.

IMO, there is not in between on this, you either love it, or you hate it, I don't like them against the red in the pic, but I have a black one, and it looks sweet, I think they look the best on a white stepside though. I can't even count how many times I've been going down the freeway, and look at the guy next to me in his Ford f-150 or Chevy 1500, and see him nearly break his neck to look straight again so I wouldnt notice that he was eyeing my rearend. But thats just what I've noticed, I like the stesides(tailights) a lot.

Not my style. That would suck if I bashed that tail light against a rock. Lots of $$$ to replace.

True, and I hate it. Not just the tailights, I dislike the entire step-side look. Disliking it goes against my normal way of thinking: Form follows function, and step-side makes perfect sense from a function standpoint. But I just can not abide by the bubble-butt fenders, and the Toyota tail light solution on the step-side is ghastly. I think a truck should look like a truck, not a PT cruiser.

Just my $.02, don't mean to offend anyone.

Thumbs down

Gotta go w/ the "NO" votes. I don't like the stepsides to begin with...wasted space.
The new tails don't go well w/ the red tundra...maybe on a black on. But then again it's not going to matter w/ me b/c that is on of my issues w/ the stepsides...the wrap around tails. (need a barfing smilie. LOL)

Yes sir Possum I will, my apologies. I was wondering why everything I was posting got lost... I realize I'm on a bit of a tightrope being here in the first place... but It has been Interesting for me anyways. One of the reasons I've been snooping around here was to have a fly on the wall view of the Tundra. I must say some of what I found out has clarified some of the issues I heard about and proved others wrong. I'm really giving careful thought before I post.. I quickly found out that others may construe my comments as an attack or bashing. At this point I realize its more a courtesy of TS to allow non Toyota owners access and thanks for that. I think my visit here will be brief and comments Minimal. GG

Default Re: Tail light design what do you think?

I'm sure someone here can help me with this one! I'm looking for a custom tail light design for mine, but I don't want to pay expensive engineering fees for this! I tried a few companies I found on line such as Luanr Accents: Design LED Brake Tail Lights with Universal LED Tail Lights, and LED Turn Signals , but they have those damn engineering fees that I want to advoid! Does anyone know where I can find cusotm tail lights designed for under $250??
