Question Flush Mount Diamond Plate Storage Chest for Bed

Okay, I've searched and searched...on-line and off-line, locally and nationally and I can't find any company that makes a true flush mount (in the bed) diamond plate aluminum storage chest for my tundra. I even called Toyota headquarters and they couldn't steer me in the right direction. As most Tundra owners know, the Tundra bed rails are shorter than most (if not all) domestic pick-ups. Dodge, Ford and Chevy all have 19" tall bed rails. Tundra's are only 16.5" (on the inside, measured from the top of the bed ribs). Every "flush mount" (meaning mounted in the bed..not on the rails) box I have found is around 19" tall. This totally defeats the purpose of having a flush mount box. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that most Tundra owners prefer a clean look for their trucks...not the look you get with a large rail mount box in the back. The needed dimensions are about 60" long at the top tapered down to 58 1/2" long at the bottom (to accommodate the fuel filler humps), 15 3/4" wide (can be more if tapered at the bottom to accommodate the wheel humps) and NO MORE THAN 16 1/2" TALL. If anyone knows where to get such a box that actually matches the Tundra dimensions, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE TO FIND IT!

I'm with you on this one. I prefer the flush mount, clean look of a diamond plate box but have been unable to find one for myself. Let me know if you can find one.

Have you tried Highway Products? If they don't have what you want they can custom build one for you, though they may actually have one for the Tundra. I have a low-profile box for my Stepside that is made to my specs and they made it exactly the way I asked. Check them out - real nice folks.

Yep, found one...Made by DeeZee corp - Called A "Chest" model BUT cost about $ 400.00 !!! The box is made of diamond plate alumin, opens/locks from either side, has shock absorbers (2) for the lid, comes with a small tool box & slideing tray. The box fits flush with top of the bed & has about 1/2 " clearence on left & right side of the bed. I mounted mine on four rubber washers sealed with silicon for leak protection as I mounted the box to the bed vs the front wall of the bed....Just what I wanted.... RRRanger
