Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "03' Tundra Center Console Installed In An 02'", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Finally !!! after a very lenghty and patient waiting period ( About 6 Months !!!! ) I received all of the parts to install the center console in my Tundra. Cant say enough about Bob at Carson Toyota, he was great to work with and very dilligent in getting me all of the parts needed to install the Console. I would like to add that if anybody is considering this great Mod, please have theparts guy you are dealing with run your VIN #'s so to make sure the interior color will be correct !!!!
I also want to add to all is you have to be very patient !!!! Toyota parts are the hardest thing to come by !!! Meaning, if you order these parts from a dealer and you are not a body shop or a repair facility of some sort ( You are given the Lowest Priority for delivery possible !!!! ) In other words, Toyota uses a grading system of priorities, private and internet sales are of less priority than for a dealer or repair facility, SO BE PATIENT !!!
Anyway; I wanted to pass along that the center console from an 03' pretty much bolts right in a 02' and earlier Tundra's with Bucket Seats, I believe that this is one of the BEST MODS to do for the Interior !! There are plenty of very informative posts throughout this site with all of the part numbers and tips to do the install.
** By the way, Anybody interested in my 02' Center Console ?? It is is Mint Condition and I will sell it Cheap !! It is ( OAK ) in color which I belive is the ( BO ) Color Code. ** ( Send me a Private Message if anybody is interested )
Anyways, I have a bench seat in my regcab, so no console. But if I was to put some buckets in there...nah I doubt I could get a center console. I wonder if the reverse is true--if I got a DC tundra (not available with center seat) can I take the console out and put an access cab seat there and have a 6 seater DC? OK who's gonna volunteer to do that mod?

Nice to hear you have your setup install. I did this changeover last year on my '00, and I love the function and look it provides to the interior. In case some folks have not researched, the console will fit 2000-2002 models with no modifications needed. I do have some pics in my photos if people want to see the setup. I still think it is one of the better mods to do for the interior, though, it is not a cheap ($$) conversion.

If you really want it to go smoothe, aquire a VIN for a truck that has exactly what you want and do not tell them it is a retrofit.
The Toyota catologing is very vin dependent.
Also Toyota has an industry leading fill rate.ie Try getting the same parts for a Dodge or a Ford. Toyota does not discriminate against internet or private sales, they do however prioritize Back ordered parts when there is limited supply ,had you given the parts guy the VIN for a 2003 and stuck to it then you probably would have been right at the top of the list. Toyota's highest priority for filling back orders is refered to as "vehicles off road"(VOR) which requires the dealer to make a couple of phone calls on your behalf. They will only do so when it is a legit claim( if they pull strings all the time then there wont be any left when they need them)
Remember most parts guys are just making a living, when you find one that shares your interests and is a genuine help.... let the Parts Manager know or better yet let the General Manager know how much it means to you. They are by far the least appreciated part of a good dealership experience. And most positive experiences go untold
I have all the brackets and bolts for this mod still sitting here gathering dust because i ended up not using them with my sub box. if anyone needs them i'll send them out if you pay the shipping. it'll save you some $$$ since the full mod is quite costly.
For those that have done the modification, how much does it cost to order the parts? What do you actually ask for? A 2003 center console? Do you have to relocate the power outlets? Thanks in advanced.
yes i still have the mouting stuff, give me a pm and take this off the boards.... and the power outlets are EASY... unplug the L shaped plug from the old, plug them into the new..... all the parts and the schematics of how they fit together can be found on this rather large thread... 2003 Tundra, Center Console Parts and Prices! ... enjoy
