Default Sealed Paint

When I bought my truck I opted to have the scotch guard put on the int. and they also "sealed" the paint. To be honest with you I can't say I know exactly what this means. Can anyone help me out?

It means a really nice profit item for the stealership and a good commission for the guy who talked you into it. They may have done nothing to your truck, or maybe just applied some commercial wax type product to the exterior and spritzed some spray containing some stain repellent on the inside.

KLS is correct. Just quick ways to remove money from your pocket with little in return.

In the old days they called "sealing the paint" CLEARCOAT. In 3 to 4 years it would start bubbling and pealing. Repainting was the only cure.
I talked to a car painter about it. He told me that every paint job he does gets a clear coat when it's painted. That if you try to put one on at a later date that it will bubble and peal.

Sorry for the bad news. No one likes to hear that they have been ripped off by a car dealer although most everyone here has been at sometime in their life.

Go buy yourself a couple more cans of Scotch Guard and put a few more coats of it on your interior. I put three cans on mine and it still looks like new.

You're right not what I wanted to hear, but I had a feeling. The scotch guard has been tested though. It worked. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.
