This is a discussion thread titled "rocker skids", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
does anyone have any rocker skids from bentup? i wanted to get a set for my tundra limited... but wanted to hear some reveiws on install, quality, looks etc. i was also curious how far forward and back they extend. i took a rock directly behind my front wheel. my factory running boards helped, but werent quite far enough forward to keep my fender from taking damage.
AJ is in the process of making mine along with my front and rear bumpers. My tundra is the guinea pig, so I will let everyone one know how it goes and of course some pics.
skymtb... did he mention anything about the overall length?? will it pretty much go from fender to fender?? what about price? i didnt know they had not built any for tundras.
ted.. good to hear from you. we met on the barney riley trail. i was there with my wife and 16-month old daughter. i actually have a couple pictures for you. you and your friend... riding my pos motorcycle.
do your rock sliders give a decent amount of space to use as a step into and out of the truck. i use my boards all the time to get sydney out of her car seat.
im am going to finally get my truck lifted and protected this winter. i hope to do a bunch of trips.
[quote=chrislloyd]hey guys... thanks for the input.

Yes they will be fender to fender. AJ was not sure how he would attach the rear mount though. They will be bolt on. As for price I do not know. Probably something I should know, but since I am the guinea pig I am going into this blind. I must say his work looks great so far on the rear bumper.
I built my own sliders also, and I know what he means about the rear mounts. If you extend the rocker runner too far back, it is hard to attach back to the frame because of the front leaf spring hanger and the frame angling up to clear the axle.

That was the exact problem. He was thinking it mght be possible to attach to the spring hanger, but this was not an option that he really liked.

i took a look at the pictures of your sliders... very nice work. i was curious though... the view you have from the right/front side.... it looks like thay are back a way from the fender. how far back are they??... is it just a angle issue thing i am seeing??
reason i ask is.. i took a rock right behind the front fender. basically it hit between my factory limited steps and the molded mud flap. im a perfect world.. i could get the slider to tuck right up against the mud flap... or even remove the flap and move it in tighter. i dont want to spend another 1600!
great work on your truck. when mine grows up it wants to be just like yours.

The 2"x2" runner runs the entire length of the cab up to close to where the front mud flat attaches, the hoop does takes off at a 70 degree angle, which is where it looks like it is far away from the front. You could take off at a 90 degree angle to get the most side impact protection, I just prefer the lesser angle for asthetic reasons. Did you take the hit from below or from the side? I had about the same angle on my old Bronco sliders and never got rocks into the area that you did, I guess if there is one single rock small enough to slip between the front of the hoop and mud flap then it could get to the body. I'll let you know if that happens next time I'm on the trails, kind of hope it does - first battle scar opens the doors for the solid front axle, bobbed bed, four link options! Thanks for the compliments on my ride, I am torn between going balls out on the Tundra or just finishing up with the coil-overs / TC upper arms and trying to find a mid 80's solid axle Toyo pickup to hybrid out.
