Default New Grill = New Noise?

Hi everyone,

I'm sure I can't be the only one on this board who's THIS particular about things. But being an audio enthusiast as well, this is killing me! A few weeks ago I installed a T-Rex billet insert grill on my '03. Now when I reach a certain speed or if the Santa Ana winds are blowing against my truck hard enough, there's a high pitch humming noise. Has anyone heard of something like this before? The grill looks nice as I had it powder coated black to match the front end, so it's not going anywhere! But I need to figure out a way to quiet things down... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ryan B.

Lots of people with the billet grilles report this same noise. Member Bbbutch's solution was to cut black rubber fuel line and wedge it between each billet, so that it looks like a support column, problem solved. Short of that solution, I would run a search to see what, if anyone else, has done.

Have you tried backing it with some screening? If you change the wind dynamic in some way the sound will change, but it might not be enough.

I just got some 4x4 squares of rubber and mounted them behind the grill, one on each side and that took most of the hum away.
