Unhappy center console upgrade

Ok, so who has retro-fit the '03 console into their '00-'02 tundra? I know a few of you have and am interested in problems or tips to get this done. It really is too expensive a project, but the difference it makes is worth it. Rather than wait for someone to wreck their truck, I've decided to buy the parts new and do it myself...HELP!!!
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Doggie

Ive read that two people have done it. The new console is a direct bolt in. I think all you gotta do is order the new parts ($550?) and take out the old, put the new one in.

Yeah I was wrong, its about half that. Still a lot for some plastic and cupholders.

thanks for the input...cost of parts is just less than $900.(and that's with a 15% discount!!!) The thing I'm not sure about is the "direct bolt in". Do you have to cut the carpet? What about the heating vents etc...?

Anymore thoughts or input would be great...thanks again!

Do a search on this topic. There was a large group buy on this a while back and there was a lot of discussion on how to install.

Default Center console modification

I am wondering if anyone has come up with an inexpensive way to raise the center console on the 2000-2002 Tundras (with bucket seats) without having to purchase a JL Audio stealthbox ($$$) or go through the expense of purchasing the center console that goes in the newer Tundras ($$$$). I like the idea of having the console level with the arm rests similiar to what the stealthbox accomplishes. Has anyone performed a similiar modification without purchasing a stealthbox? If not, anyone have a "dead" stealthbox that they want to sell cheap?
