Default Help removing dashboard to fix dash squeak

Has anyone ever removed the dashboard?

I've found the source of my dash squeak that shows up in cold weather to be the orange dasboard clip behind the airbag. I've removed the glove department and have been able to get my hand between the ECU and the steel reinforcement bar to feel the play in the clip. I can also see the clip with a mirror and flashlight.

I'd like to remove the top part of the dash to grease the clips, and would like to know the following:

1. Does the lower part of the dash need to be removed first?
2. Are there any hidden bolts?
3. Are there any plastic pieces to the dash that are sensitive to breaking off,
when the dash is removed?

Simon

I've had the center pod and radio/CD/tape unit out 2 or 3 times, but not the whole thing. If you can see the clips with a mirror, could you put an extension on a spray can of white lithium grease and direct it in the right place? Maybe have someone hold the mirror and light for you. In my case, it was either get that annoying "tick-tick" stopped, or get a different truck!

I'm not sure what type of grease to use yet, I'd like something that won't smell when heated since the clip is next to the defroster vent. I don't think I'd be able to use the mirror and spray it at the same time due to the tight space. If I could, I'd need an extension of 1-1.5 ft.

A better alternative would be to remove the heater duct running under the glove box to get better access, but they are all fitted together and it doesn't seem straightforward to remove it.

I have a 2005 Lucesse limited doing the same darn thing. Popping noise by the air bag. It's driving me nuts.
