Default Glass Cleaner

What's everyone using for a glass cleaner? I used 99% Isopropyl last night and had a lot of rubbing with a dry towel. The glass did look good when I was done, I'm wondering if the streaking was from the residue of the vinyl outgassing inside the cabin.

Sprayway glass cleaner is the best I've found. It's the only one I've used that gets sun-dried dog snuffle marks off the glass without streaks. Gets vinyl scum off the glass on the first try.

I buy it at a local hardware store or Costco. Novus windshield shops may carry it, but they charge way too much.

Ken

You should sell that quote to the Sprayway folks. Great visual.

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass cleaner as well. It certainly works alot better than Windex or any household window cleaner.

I also use newspaper to clean as opposed to paper towels, and the windows come out streak-free and spotless. Very nice product.

Get a good microfiber towel (they make one for glass) and then you can use anything and it will work well. Windex, Stoner, even washer fluid. The non-glass specific ones work fine too.

You can even use plain water with a microfiber and it will outclean most "cleaners". On the insides I never use any cleaner. Just after I wax my car and wipe off the extra polish\wax I clean my glass afterward with that same towel (has some slight residue on it). Wipe after that with a clean microfiber to take off the slight film and the glass will be slippery, dust resistant and you only have to wipe it with a dry microfiber towel every couple months to remove the "vinyl film" that shows up over time. No cleaners required!

The outside gets cleaned when I wash the car.

Microfiber works really well. If you get some sap on the outside, it won't do that, but most glass cleaners won't either. In that case you'll need to use some polish or solvent (tar and bug) and then finish with water and a microfiber towel. That or you can polish the glass along with the paint and clean it that way.

i used to use newspapers too. i stopped because i heard on one of those car detailing shows that over time the ink from newspapers will eventually leave a residue on the glass. that was many years ago though, so it's probably different now. the ink on newspapers has changed so much that it's probably not as bad.

Ct...Work great for me...also good for cleaning the headlamps and fogs...Stoner recommends using newspaper too as per their instructions
Chris...I buy mine form Aid Auto or Pep boys...dunno if you have it there in the west coast...
I use it a lot also to clean the windows, mirrors, TV in the house...as opposed to windex...hope this helps.

The advantage of newspapers is that you won't have "fuzz" left on the glass like you do from a paper towel and even from some regular towels. It will be streak free.

But the ink will get on your hands as you use it so wash your hands afterward before grabbing anything.

Using papers is an old window washer trick that does work well. But like I said, microfiber is the way to go. Once you start using them, anything else is rather barbaric. (Kind of like washing your clothes by beating them on a rock and then rinsing them in a stream. It does work!! Why do you think they call them stonewashed jeans?

I got a can of the Stoner's, what a name I love it, Invisible glass cleaner last night. On another forum I heard about Sprayway glass cleaner which is said to work well. I'm going to give it a try, less than $4 at Pep Boys. Autozone also carries it as well as the Tarmanator.
I also picked up one of the microfiber wash rags, I'll have to pick up one for the glass. I guess they have a different weave for the different applications.

I'm giving the Stoner's a try, not the Sprayway, I haven't found a retailer for them yet, so if anyone knows of one, please post.

I think on glass the ends are flat rather than as hooked as a normal one. I use both and I don't see much of a difference, but they do market them as being different. You don't need the hooks on glass because it's not that dirty.
