Locking gas cover on my '94 base model tercel

No locking gas cap on my '03 Tundra....

Its like reverse evolution

Things that make me go..."Toyota is retarded sometimes"
I couldn't agree more!
This was probably one of the first things I posted about after getting my '03.
I had an '81 Toyota 4x4 pickup with a key locking fuel door; wonderful, simple system, forces you to take the key out of the ignition to fuel up, keeps the fuel nice and safe. '89 Toyota 4x4 pickup - same great system. '96 Toyota Corolla - inside fuel door release lever, maybe even a better system. '03 Toyota Tundra, no locking whatsoever; a couple of sugar cubes in there and that's the end of your IForce V8!
You know, I calmed down about this during the past year but I'm getting spooled again! Thanks guys!

Why no heated seats on the Limited model access cab?

Why no compass and diming mirror?

Why no power passenger seat option on Limited?

Why no automatic climate control?

I have a 2000 so some of these may have been changed in later models.
Why do the controls on the radio have such a soft feel? I'm constantly turning the radio off when trying to adjust the volume. The same for the turn signal when trying to use the lane change feature. Also, why have only the drivers power window control lit? One more thing. Why have a light under the dash that lights the floor on the driver's side but none on the passenger side.
Small things that would not stop me from buying another Tundra but still annoying.
BTW Has anyone noticed that the light under the driver side of the dash only lights when the driver's door is open and not when the passenger side is open. They had to add a diode to do this. Cute but why bother?

As for the non-locking gas cap, go to Wal-Mart and get the cap itself part (the part that spins off) that locks, done deal...and if youre peranoid about the keys, go to a locksmith and have them rekey it to the same key as your truck...

But yeah, Most people wouldve liked the locking cap, even better yet, remote cap...

The little metal flap was to keep people from dumping regular gas in even though the hole to the tank was smaller. They don't make the larger diameter nozzle any longer because you can't get leaded gas any longer.

I just bought a black 04 DC SR5 last week and I was surprised it did not have a locking gas cap. I guess I'll just go to to Pep Boys and buy a generic locking cap. The rear drum brakes were also surprising.

I love my new Tundra and have not found anything else yet to go Hmmm. I was considering buying a Nissan Titan because of the bigger engine, but am glad I came to my senses. While I was researching the Tundra and the Titan I read a lot of posts on the Titan in one of their forums. The Toyota quality is much better. There are numerous complaints about the Titan's build quality such as double sided tape being used to attach mudflaps and the plastic tailgate lock cover. Radio problems. Cardboard behind the back seat etc. I can deal with the minor things on the Tundra that make me go hmmm.

I had a line-X bedliner installed last week and I have ordered a black snugtop tonneau and black step rails. I can't wait until they are installed. After driving the Tundra to and from work for the first time last week (80 miles round trip each day) I will be glad when gas prices go back down

Default Hmmmm

Things on my 2000 SR5 Access cab that make me go Hmmm.

The whole brake rotor thing......They have been turned once then replaced and now at 50,000 they are starting to vibrate again. Any one ever come up with a good solution? They were fixed before under warranty but what about now....seems like the problem pops up every 15,000 miles.

Doors. Those big heavy front doors swing shut unexpectedly on the slightest incline. I worry about the wife and kids all the time. Did they ever fix this problem in newer models? Does any one have a mod to improve this. My wife wants to get rid of the truck for this one reason. It is really dangerous.

Thanks,
Tony

There is no locking gas cap made that will fit our trucks that wont cause the CEL to come on from vent style change. if you find one that works let me know cause ive checked all over and havnt found one that fits right- even the 3 diffrent ones listed at autozone -not one of them fit right, my engine is worth more than the rest of my truck i belive a locking gas cap is a great idea but ..............................cant get one !

In looking at the DC's and I was floored that Toyota missed the opportunity to equip these with auto climate control!! Seems the unit from the Sequoia would work perfectly.

The Stant 11506 cap fits and work fine. Iv'e had it on my 03 Tundra for about 6 months now without any problems. There were some threads about the locking gas cap issue when I looked into it about eight months ago.

The actual application for the Stant 11506 is listed as being for a 1999 GMC SAFARI V6 4.3 Liter FI. I just ordered mine from partsamerica.com. It was about 13.00.
