Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Best Wax, Polish, Etc....Your Opinion", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I recently got a "Glacier Blue" Tundra what normal people call Silver. What would the best stuff to use on it to give it that extra shine. Zaino? Something I can do in 3-4 hours and not have to do but once/thrice a year.
I have never had a nice Vehicle before so I used to just wash my car with dish soap and never waxed so I am sorta newb when it comes to detailing a vehicle.
I have a silver 2001 xtra cab tundra. I started using Klasse last year within a month of buying. Two parts to it. The all in one and the glaze. The all in one required two coats and the glaze is 3 to 4 coats (or less it is up to you) at least 24 hours apart for the glaze. It holds up pretty well for about 6 months than you need to start all over. I just redid mine and it looks great. I heard that Zaino came out with a new product similar to the Klasse All In One which is supposed to be pretty good. A good place to check on both of them is at the Autopia Carport forums. Lots of people that do detailing as work or as a passion and they are very helpful. The first time I Klassed I topped it off with a way, One Grand Showoff. Didn't like it. The Klasse gives it a candy apple shine which looks good.
I used Meguiar's products with great success on my previous two vehicles ('98 Prelude and '94 Cobra) , but would do both of them 3 times a year due to frequent washings and the climate here in South Texas.
When I took delivery of my Tundra last summer, I discovered Zaino products through a thread like this one here at ts. Expensive, but works really great and has good holding power. I don't know how some of you guys can tell, but I've heard numerous complaints on this site about "thin paint" on the Tundra. I've got 12k miles and don't see the difference between this paint quality vs what was on the Prelude or Cobra.
Anyway, I like Zaino, but Meguiars would be my second choice.
Originally posted by jdc580 Meguiars Gold Class is the finest wax I have ever used. By the way, it smells really good too.
I've found the opposite. I have a dark red metalic Volvo that looks good when waxed and shows everything. Meguiars Yellow Wax looked better than Meguiars Gold Class. The Gold Class showed hairline scratches everyplace anything touched it. NuFinish isn't as shiny, but seems to be tougher and last longer.
I get the long lasting polymer sealant and a nice carnuba shine.
Eventualy, I will convert over to ZAINO..
I think you'll find that Zaino does do a better job *but* I definitely recommend that you also use their soap. In fact, even if you use something else I recommend their soap and their finish spray.
Pain stays slippery and like new for quite a while.
Used to do what you do, but I always used to use the cleaner too. It's a lot of work, but it does look like a new car. I find though that Zaino does stay slicker (and thus easier to wash) much longer.
Every time you wash with their soap, you put a new layer on of wax. The soap is noticably slick and silky.
Of all the stuff they make, I recommend their soap and finish spray the most - even if you use some other brand for wax. Every time you shut your car door, you'll feel the difference on the paint.
I probably "wax" every six months, but I use their soap and spray with every wash (about every three weeks). I think the soap with it's light "waxing" is what really make the difference. Every wash looks like you just waxed it.

I only plan to use the #7 and #20 twice a year, and wax more frequently. I did the whole shebang a couple of weeks ago with the clay etc.... it was the first full detail and wax I did on the truck. I was waiting for the paint to cure a bit before I went at it.
I believe ZAINO is the way to go, its just you either have to order online or go through a distributer, (lives about 30 miles away) to get the stuff. I found the Meguire's at a auto paint supply about 4 miles away. Besides, going and buying it at a store is a lot easier for me, since I don't have to explain to my wife what all this stuff that's arriving in the mail
Great reference point stylesbichly!!
Thanks, as I had been searching the web for some type of comparison between Zaino Vs "any product". I started using Zaino last July when I took delivery of my Tundra and am very satisfied with its performance (the Zaino!!).
Thanks for a great link!!
Good test, I liked the results, especially since I use the $12 a bottle Zymol. Will say though I have heard nothing bad about the Zaino, except it's hard to get, meaning you can't go to a local place to pick it up.

I have never used a product with the excellent results of Zaino. And I doubt I will ever try anything else... I don't see the need to. Great information from the NSX site!
I think a big advantage to using Zaino products is that they do not leave that annoying white over-wax in cracks or on all of the black trim around the Tundra. I am a big fan of it's anti-static abilities as well - I don't have a garage and I leave it parked in dirt all day (see sig pic). Even under these adverse conditions, it still has that 'freshly waxed' look after several weeks between washings. I use the Z-1 w/ Z-2 on top twice a year and the Z-2 about once every three months or so. I do it all by hand, but that is just because I don't own a buffer.
I also use the leather cleaner and protectant (Z-9 and Z-10) with good results. I use 303 for it's uv protection as well. The only complaint I have is that I have not been diligent about keeping the interior up, and the driver's side seat is showning signs of wear at 42,000 miles... And I would like to be able to get Zaino locally, but I will continue to order it if I must!
