Always happy to share good info.

I still have Zymol from a Costco twin-pack. Wish Zaino was easier to get. Indeed... being able to wipe over the black composite pieces sounds very appealing.

I think a big advantage to using Zaino products is that they do not leave that annoying white over-wax in cracks or on all of the black trim around the Tundra. I am a big fan of it's anti-static abilities as well - I don't have a garage and I leave it parked in dirt all day (see sig pic). Even under these adverse conditions, it still has that 'freshly waxed' look after several weeks between washings. I use the Z-1 w/ Z-2 on top twice a year and the Z-2 about once every three months or so. I do it all by hand, but that is just because I don't own a buffer.

I also use the leather cleaner and protectant (Z-9 and Z-10) with good results. I use 303 for it's uv protection as well. The only complaint I have is that I have not been diligent about keeping the interior up, and the driver's side seat is showning signs of wear at 42,000 miles... And I would like to be able to get Zaino locally, but I will continue to order it if I must!

JD
JD, I'd throw the z-9 and the 303 in the back of the cab or put in a little bottle in the access cab door behind the driver to make it easier.

I use the same z-9 and z-10 (LOVE the smell of that stuff) and my seats look like brand new at 31,000. In fact, my whole truck looks like it's only a couple months old.

I throw a light coat of the 303 on every couple of weeks and it keeps that leather slick and new.

Oh, since you obviously do like to use the best items, I recommend that you put some Hide Food on the seats every couple months too - especially in the hot summer months or year round if your in AZ or something.

I, too, mostly use Zaino and cover it with 303 to make the leather slicker and have less wear and tear from friction. For good measure and deep conditioning, I put the hide food on once in a while too.

I use Zaino Clay bar and products for waxing, but haven't tried the leather cleaner. I use 303, but only for exterior vinyl/rubber and the dash.
You're using 303 on the leather or is there a 303 specifically for leather? What is "hide food"?

For those of using Zymol from Walmart etc, it is made by Turtle Wax, I believe the Zymol he's refering to in the test is from here

Zymol

It's not the same product...

You are right, I believe they are two different things.

I am using the Wal-Mart etc. Zymol. For the price, availability, and performance I don't care who it's made by. It works great for me. But then again I have never had the opportunity to try the Zaino either. Maybe soon.

Default Need to order Zaino....

I need to replenish my Zaino supplies and I'm confused about Toyota and clear-coats. In another thread it has been brought up that black is not clear-coated and maybe not white either. What are you other white Zaino owners using, Z2 (clear-coat) or Z3 (regular)?

Thanks in advance.

It's easy to check for clear coat. In a hidden spot scrape a very small amount of the top paint surface off with a knife blade. Is it clear coat scrapings or white paint?

Alan ~

Yeah, thankfully I started doing that before my last road trip when a passenger spilled some soda on my rear seats....

I have not tried 'hide food' but I have heard excellent things about it. Definitely would like to give it a try. It is only my driver's side seat that is wearing, the rest of the interior is holding up very well. Thanks for the input... I believe you get what you pay for these days, but I am never against saving a little $$ here and there to put it right back into my Tundra

Niles ~

I use the Z-2 for clear coat. I have a Thunder Grey Tundra...

Thumbs down Not.....

Well.... I just came in from doing the scrape test. I saw nothing but white on the blade of the knife. I am really surprised and I must admit that I’m disappointed with Toyota. I would of lost if I had bet someone one this. Well, now I can send in my Zaino order and get the right stuff.

Niles

PS Thanks Ken for the quick how to.

I get the long lasting polymer sealant and a nice carnuba shine.

Eventualy, I will convert over to ZAINO..

I just purchased #7 Glaze (polish) and #20 Polymer Sealant / wax to use on my Imperial Jade Tundra -- but am not familiar with the #26 Carnuba Paste Wax. What does the #26 add and how important do you think it is? (my understanding is the #20 gives a good, thick long-lasting layer of protection)

About 2 months ago, I started to use Griot's polishes and "best of show" car wax. It's the best polish and wax combo I've ever used. I have never used Zaino though. Maybe I'll give Zaino a try when I run of Griot's. After reading this thread it's seems like everybody is very happy with Zaino.

i just read all 5 pages. whew!

i have always used mcguires gold class on past vehicles after i stopped using Butterwax in high school.

i recently bought the mcguires yellow wax (#28?). i had to phone a friend to help me get it off. i gave it to a neighbor and told him it was awesome. he has an orbital.

i now have the $12 zymol from target on my shelf. i haven't used it. i guess i can make a new neighbor friend with that.

i have a 2001 thunder grey. i live in houston, tx. i don't have an orbital. i sort of like the physical part of detailing. but, not to where i am sore for 3 days!

is this what i should use?
zaino wash soap
z2 wax
finish spray

what do i use for the interior on the dash and cloth seats?

i have always used deerskin to dry. i should use microfiber?

i don't want the white stuff on my black stuff. use zaino, right?

should i get an orbital?

i will go to website to try to figure out exact model #'s unless you can post them for me. thanks.

Default Zs

As a minimum, I would use Dawn dish washing liquid to get off the old wax, Z1 Polish Lok, Z2 Show Car Polish, and get some Z7 Show Car Wash.
I also use the Z6 Ultra Clean "gloss enhancer" and Z16 Perfect Tire Gloss. Sal would probably tell you to use the clay bar on your truck also, but all those Zs start adding up!

the #26 is the Carnuba Paste wax that comes in a can. I'm not an expert, and based upon what I read at Autopia, the polymer wax is better for lighter colors as far as shine goes. The carnuba wax is supposed to give darker colors a deeper shine or more depth into the paint. I did the polymer wax to give me a long lasting protection and plan to use it two maybe three times a year. I put the #26 on to give that just waxed shine, added protection in the Texas climate and I put it on about once a month. I plan to move over to Zaino, but was lazy and got the Meguire's since it was easier to get... If you were going to do just one, I would go with the #20 for the longer protection or get something like Klasse which is another premium wax/polymer system Over at Autopia, there are some people that really obsess about what they do...
I'm getting a little that way myself. I plan to oder some Micro Fiber towels, have done the clay, glaze , wash with two buckets... I love my truck and like to treat it right...
