Default My windows rattle when not fully up

I have a 2001 AC and my windows rattle loudly when they are partially up. When I was at the dealership for another reason, I asked a service manager about it and he said that Tundras just have lose windows, that even his own Tundra has lose windows, and that he has tried but could not do anything to tighten them up. He did not check out my windows. I just got my 2004 DC last week so will be selling my AC but I checked and the DC windows do not have the same problem. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, which model and year?

When my windows are not completely rolled down, I hear a little rattle,

I need to take door panel off and clean in there anyway sometime soon.

Not sure of any remedies off hand

Rattle Thread I believe there is a more complete write up but this what I could find in 5 min.

I found the fix that somebody else wrote on TS. How to fix the rattling windows.
1)Determine if you have the problem: Roll the window down about 2 inches. Grab the window and Attempt to slid/rock the window forward and back in the door frame.(not in and out of the opening). If your window seems to have a bunch of slop in it, read on.

2)Determine that your Dealer will not fix it. This is the easy part . Just take it in and they will tell you it is normal for Tundra windows to have play and rattle like mad.

3)Get pissed off and attempt this fix.

4)Remove the door panel.

5)Carefully peel back the plastic water guard sheet by slightly pulling on it and carefully cut the black stripping/glue that holds it on , so that you can gain access to the tracks.

6)Locate the front (closest to the mirror) vertical track. You will notice that it is attached to the door via 2 10mm head screws and one 10mm nut towards the top of the door.

7)Loosen the top nut (leave on the stud.)

8)Remove the other two screws.

9)Push the track toward the inner door jam from the bottom, so that the holes where the screws went through have no track behind them.

10)Grind these holes (or drill) to make a slot where the original holes (2 holes). We want to force the track onto the window tighter. You want the slots to go away from the mirror end of the door.

11)Reach into the door and grab the loosened track, pull it tight to the window and reinsert and retighten all bolts.

12)Check and make sure window goes up and down smoothly.(no bind… That would be tight.)

13)Check the play in the window again (force the window toward the mirror and back again). You should notice considerable difference.

14)Put it all back together! I did this to both my windows. I can now drive with the windows partially open without fear that the window will fall out. I guess Toyota service departments have never seen tracks that adjust. Nothing that a grinder won’t fix.

Noted this a few days ago. Just do a search for my name

"cubic22 window rattle" should have no problem finding it.
The write up was not done by me.
