Default Retrax From Group Buy On Its Way!!!!!

OH BOY!!!!! ...just got the UPS tracking number from truckgadets last night and this morning found out the cover "HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!!!" wooohooo!!!...its in Fargo, ND right now and scheduled to arrive here on the East coast Thursday May 20th!!!! So all those who got in this group buy with me should be expecting their covers next week also!!!!!!

Excited to reclaim the bed and improve gas milage and just make the truck look sharp!! Good luck to the others in installing theirs and hope to see pics of your rides on TS soon!

ILLINI,

I probably won't install it before line-x the weather is nice right now and I think I can hold off one month before installing it since they will only have to take it right back off to spray the line-x in. But I will open it up when it arrives and check out the quality and maybe "dry" fit it to the truck to see how it looks.

Japes,

I think Illini is the FIRST from the group buy that I sponsored to get his Retrax...so he will probably be the first to get pics of it installed unless he waits to get line-x like myself....I am due for Line-x install July 10th...so I won't have pics till July 11th(wont install retrax right away, only to have to remove it for the line-x).....however, there are 8 others that ordered and may get it installed and post pics soon.

Default I installed mine last night!!

I live in San Antonio so I got mine delivered by FedX on Tuesday and installed in about 1hour last night. It is not hard to install at all however it is helpful to have one extra person. I have attached two pictures.

Thanks PistolPete for setting up this group buy!!! I am very happy!

SWEET RIDE 2DMAXX!! the cover looks great....glad I could be of help!...just checked my UPS tracking number and my cover should arrive this afternoon!

quick question 2D....what do you think of those side steps on your ride?..do you like them?...hows the feel?...solid or a little give? are you happy with them? Thanks

Glad you like your cover...I am investigating getting a group buy together on a TracRac once I confirm the fit with Retrax (a local shop is willing to try a fit for me once the cover is one my truck)

The side steps are very sturdy. When I am launching my Jet Ski I actually use them to climb into the bed of the truck without getting wet and launch the ski. I weigh ~220 and they handle it no problem.

So far I have bought two items with info from this site and saved $$ on each one. I am very

Has anyone installed the Retrax on a truck with a factory drop in under-the-rail bedliner? If so, was there any modification necessary to the bedliner?

Installed mine today. I'll get pictures if interested but it looks no different than Maxx's only on truck in Phantom Gray with boring wheels.

It takes about 45 minutes to wrestle with the boxes and do a quick read over the instructions stare at stuff deciding whether today would be a good day for this, etc. and another 30 to 45 to actual install it. You would have to be grossly incompetent to take more than 2 hours. It took me 4. Of course some of that was spent going to Home Depot to buy a T-40 torx head to remove the front two tie-down brackets that actually didn't need to be removed and other mis-adventures - for instance, they left out one of the machine screws that has the nice black hat on it. I didn't read the instructions carefully and didn't know that the long red wire had to be removed. It took me a good 30 minutes to get the red protective film off of the drum/roller thing. Homer Simpson could have managed better.

I did it by myself. I put a narrow (1 1/2 foot wide) motorcycle ramp across the front of my truck bed, placed the big rolling unit on that. Then I installed the three rails, lifted up the assembled unit, kicked the ramp off the bed and set the Big Unit back down. No problem. Kind of brilliant of me.

Now I'm going to take it all back off and get the Line-X sprayed in next week. Should take about 10 minutes to take it back off and 3 hours wondering where to store it. Kind of retarded don't ya think.

Here is the most retarded thing of all, I bought this truck to haul motorcycles and now I've bought this Retrax thing and won't be able to fit the bikes in. Dooh! Maybe I should have researched that a little bit first do ya think. I'm going to decide whether to keep it or not after living with it for a while. It looks great and is real functional otherwise.

Sorry for the long post.
