Default Billet Grill bumper insert, who makes them???

I see lots of interest in billet grills. Me too, I want one but want the bumper insert. I want a grill with lots of horizontal bars and a curve out to match the factory grill but the deal breaker is the bumper insert.

I see in another thread that T-Rex makes what I want but also has fit and quality problems. I just spent two hours doing a search of all the billet grill manufacturers and suppliers I could find on the net and find a real lack of Tundra installed grills.

Has anyone taken a second Trenz grill insert and cut it to fit the bumper hole?? Will that work?

Who has an installed billet with the bumper insert? Please post pictures and where you got it. Thanks!!

The ones I've seen discussed here are Trenz, T-Rex and Stull. Some folks have been real happy with 'em, and some have complained of humming, poor fit and finish, etc. Can't say that I've noticed one manufacturer who stands out either way. To me, it looks like all of 'em have occasional fit and finish problems.

I think the only one who makes a bumper insert is T-Rex. Stull lists a Toyota bumper insert, but only for a T-100. Cutting a grille down strikes me as a real job, unless you're pretty experienced at metalwork and polishing. You might be better off to get the grill and the insert, then rework 'em if they don't fit right.

JAOS makes some snazzy looking billet grilles, but their web site doesn't list the Tundra.

Steel Horse lists a billet grill for a Tundra, but I didn't see anything about a bumper insert.

Haven't seen any comments on Tundra Solutions about JAOS or Steel Horse grilles.

I did a Google search on Billet grilles for Tundra, and didn't see any other manufacturers.

I have the T-Rex Grill and Bumper Grill. I too encountered fit issues with the grill. What they did was ship the Sequoia grill. At a glance it looked good but when they tried to put it on, it was way off. They got it straight the second time....no problems since.

Looks good and no issues with finish either.

osolares:

Thanks for the reply and photos. I like the grill and the bumper fill. Have you had any CHP or local police give you trash over not having a front plate? I was thinking of removing that also.

I just looked at your photos again, sure like the grill. Also, noticed you are badge free, I pulled the side but left the tail gate badges.

Your clear corners look good but from the front they show yellow, is that the bulb? If so have you tried clear bulb? Is that legal?

ra1nman:

I see from your pictures you have clear corners. Your top photo with your other auto has the OEM corners but later the clears show up. I'll ask the same question; do you run clear or yellow bulbs?

That pic with honda is an old one, I later replaced the corners with the clears after the picture was taken. I still run the stock yellow bulbs with the new corners. If I were to use plain clear bulbs now, those cars with the fancy flashing blue and red ones would probably like to have a word with me

Yes, badge free was a must for me.....gotta keep people guessing. As for the front shot showing yellow, I had the lights on when the picture was taken. It is illegal in Cali to use anything but amber. Gotta try to stay somewhat within the law.

Thanks ra1nman. Love the spintech....it does not sound like all of the other mufflers in the market. When idle, you get a nice smooth rumble. When driving along, you can tell the truck is wide awake. When you get on the pedal, the rumble turns into a smooth, damn he has some get up and go type sound. Way different from the Borlas, TRDs and the such. The thing to remember is that these mufflers were originally developed for race cars to reduce the db's at the tracks. Most of the folks who have been in or near my truck can't believe it is as they put it "a Toyota".

That is the best discreption I can come up with without putting a sound file out.

GOOD NEWS

I stopped by the JBM Showroom (they advertize in Truckin mag.) and bought a T-Rex grill and bumper insert. Both parts 285 out the door. I came home and installed the bumper insert in 10 minutes and it is sweet looking. The grill is an insert and I have to cut out the OEM interior grill parts. Thats a Saturday job. I will post pictures of the install. I'm imperessed with the grill and really impressed with the bumper fill.

JBM can be found here on the web; http://www.sporttruckingstore.com/StoreFront.bok

They do not have the Tundra grill listed on the web but have it on display at the showroom and in stock.
