Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Power window lock button", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
The power window lock button (driver side control) on my 04 tundra DC when engaged, disables operation of all power windows (incl back window) even for the driver. My other vehicles with this feature engaged would allow operation by the driver, but not the passengers. Is this normal, or is mine broken? If it is normal, then it is a stupid feature. What good does locking out the driver do when he is the one controlling the lock?
Mine does as well. I had hit the button one day without knowing it. I went to roll down the rear window and it wouldn't go anywhere. I almost freaked til I figured out what was wrong.

Same here. It happened to me a month ago while on the way to the dealer to get my tags. I did freak and told the service guy that my rear window was broken. Man, I felt like a dumba$$ after he pressed on the window lock button to "fix" my rear window.
I am surprised that the button lock's the driver's controls... never seen that before either.

I own a '98 4Runner, and owned a '96 Land Cruiser for a while. The window lock button on each of those Toyotas worked the same way - when the lock is pressed, only the Driver's window will go up or down.
That's the way the Yota PW's work, boys...
