Default Rust developing

behind the rear bumper on my 02 with only 6000 miles on it. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have this problem. So what has anybody done to stop this from getting worse? Any kind of spray that could be put on to seal the rust without having to sand the heck out of it? It looks to be just surface rust now but don't want to let it get worse. THANKS

About 15 minutes to take rear bumper off. Then sand loose rust off and spray underbody coating in spray can from any auto parts place.

while my truck was getting painted, my cuz noticed the rust was coming from under the top plastic trim. He removed the trim, and rust converted it, put the trim peice back on.

I spray down the inside of the rear bumper and anything else that's got rust with WD-40.

My dad had this happen on his 02 bumper, and the dealership replaced both bumpers for free. They said the new bumpers were from a different distributer, and would not rust and peel like the originals did.

I just used "Mothers Chrome Polish" and I have not seen it come back yet. I only have 9000 on it now.
