Question 04 Double Cab rear power window rattle

Anyone else experiencing rattling of the rear power-vertical-sliding window on the '04 Double Cab? It happens only when the window is fully or partially (more than halfway) down. I've removed the rear plastic wall, and the metal access panel that covers the window tracks, motor, etc. I thought it might have been the two drive cables that cross each other like an "X". I covered them with some soft foam rubber, thinking they were tapping against the metal panel or glass, but that didn't fix it. Nothing appears to be loose, other than the window itself when it's down. There's at least a half-inch of play in the glass when down. Anyone else have this problem? I didn't see any TSBs for it. If it's easy enough to fix, I'd just as soon do it myself as try to get it fixed under warranty, and sit in the service lounge like a chump while the service dept. tries to find the problem.

Mine doesn't rattle, but I hear my tonneau on occasion. I read a post a while back from a member who was concerned when washing the window that there was play in the glass. I've never checked mine, too lazy to roll up the cover & I don't think I've ever cleaned the glass on the inside yet.

When I roll my rear window down, partially or completely, I hear rattles and squeaks at low speeds in rough parking lots. I never did spend the time to determine if it's my window rattling or the canister of my Retrax cover shifting around. One day, I intend to find out which it is.

I thought the same thing when I got my DC, turned out it was my drop-in bedliner bouncing around.

Default No noise here...

I haven't experienced any noise from my rear window. And here in sunny San Diego I drive around with it down quite a bit!

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take it to the dealer. I know it takes up valuable time of yours, but it is their obligation to fix it...

Default Same prob here

Im experiencing the same problem, if the window is down more than half way, it rattles over bumps, this cant be normal now, it doesnt rattle in the Sequoia. Anyone had it checked out yet? Its probably just a quick adjustment/add padding fix.

I think the front door glass rattles in all Tundras after a year or so. The glass run materials dry out, wear, or something and then the glass gets loose enough to rattle when it's partially open. I haven't fixed mine yet, but others have. Maybe the same type fix would work on the rear glass, because the cause of the rattle is probably very similar.

Question

How exactly does the rear panel come off?I found the bolt behind the plastic cover and managed to get the top loose but had no luck getting those 2 fittings loose that are higher up.Looking down from the top it appears that they snap into a metal bracket but i wasnt able to get them to come out.

I checked that earlier but it isnt specific about how to remove the panel.I'm trying to upgrade the stereo and for some unknown reason the JBL amp is located in the back instead of under the radio like it was in my old truck.

Default Removing rear plastic panel in 04 DC

Sounds like you're trying to remove the plastic panel on the rear wall. This link should help:

http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...ad.php?t=28247

and let me save you some trouble and expense before you get too far with the stereo:

04 Double Cab w/JBL replacing head unit

Hopefully that will help you decide which way to go with the upgrade.
