Default Getting rid of bad odors (like cat spray) in your car

I had the misfortune of having a tomcat spray (urine) one of my third row seats while it sat in the garage one weekend. If any of you have ever had this happen to you, you know it is one of the foulest odors known to man. Well... after researching the Internet, and even contacting Texas A&M Vet. School, which has actually tested various products, I found a product that really worked. "Simple Solutions Cat Spray & Urine Stain & Odor Remover". Supposedly it uses bacteria/enzymes to destroy the odor producting chemicals or whatever in the urine. I immediately took the cover off the seat. This took me about half an hour, but it's not too difficult and you don't need any special tools. I sprayed the solution on the inside and outside of the seatcover where the urine was. Now, here's the secret: the reason most people fail to completely remove the odor is because they don't realize that the urine usually has made it through the upholstery (carpet etc.) and into the foam underneath. So... I also completely saturated the foam padding. I hung up the seatcover and padding in my house for two days, and lo and behold... the odor was gone. A big "whew", because when I contacted Toyota about replacing the leather seat cover and foam, I was looking at around $850! Supposedly this stuff will get rid of many other odors too. I know this sounds like an ad, but guys... this stuff really works!

What is the disposition of the cat? If one did that to my truck, there would be no doubt

By the way, so far it looks like this stuff worked, but I guess I won't really know until the car sits out on a hot Texas summer day and the inside gets nice and hot. That'll be the true test.

Glad to hear that you were able to get rid of the smell. I would think that by summer, whatever smell there might be left would have a good chance of dissapating (going away) by then. Hopefully that first 90deg day this summer you won't have a surprise smell waiting for you

It hit 85 humid degrees here today, so I parked my black Sequoia out on the hot blacktop. At the end of the day the car was plenty warm inside, but no stink. I think that I can say now that the stuff worked.
