This is a discussion thread titled "Overhead Console w/ Compass, Temperature gauge, Homelink Garage Door Opener", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I was wondering if anyone knew of how to get the digital compass the Toyota offers for some Tundras. I bought mine without it but am now interested in maybe getting it. For those of you who don't know what i'm talking about...in the new 04 Tundras, there is a digital compass screen above the rear view mirror. I think it might tell temperature also...dunno. Any info on this would be much needed and greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The mirror option is something that is available thru toyota or you could probably find it on ebay as well. The mirror has a compass and temperature gage.
Mods: Front matched window tint
Westin Platinum Oval Nerfs
TRD Sway Bar
TRD Air Filter
SS Exhaust Tip
EGR Vent Visors
Billet Grille
Steelhead Bum Sticker
G.Loomis Fear No Fish Sticker
Coming soon: Readylift 2.4" front with Lowrangeoffroad 1" rear
Hopefully be able to make up my mind soon about tires (yea right)
No no...not the mirror, although that would be a nice item to purchase. I'm wondering about the digital screen ABOVE the mirror. For those of you who have the sunglass holder or the garage door opener compartment...its in that area.

I think what you are talking about is the overhead console option (JC). It's been batted around here before, here is a link of a previous discussion & I know I have seen others. I've seen some aftermarket kits offered by JC Whitney and other companies. Maybe a google search will come up with a sweet looking mod.
I saw a pretty cool aftermarket one in the Cabela's catalog for 50 bucks. Has the compass & inside/outside thermonmeter, some other bells/whistles. It looks pretty good compared to some I have seen. They also have a digital unit for about a $120 Here is the cheaper link
I've also been looking for the overhead console and happend to find a dealer out in OHIO called Joseph Airport Toyota (www.airtoy.com). The parts dept. emailed this info. (JC) Overhead Console w/Accessory Meter Includes overhead console with compass, outside temperature gauge and Homelink garage door opener. p/n 160-128 $385.00. Hope this helps
Thanks for the info. I was going through their website and couldn't really come up with anything. The price you have listed down in the thread is very pricey too!...damn it...wished i just bought the DC with the damn thing in it.
Are these options limited to later Tundras? I have a 2001 tundra and would like a compass and temperature but don't know which mod to get if I wanted them.
I'd say if you don't already have a EC dimming inside mirror, that in conjunction with the compass/OD temp feature is pretty darn nice to have. I have it in my Camry (EC & Compass) and added it to my Tundra (whole package) and the EC mirror is worth it by itself.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
