This is a discussion thread titled "Mods Under 40 Bucks?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
What are some mod's that you all have done to your truck that cost under 40 bucks.??? I have done all kinds of thing to mine but i have ran out of ideals i have painted all the interor lights red, installed a set of red lights under the dash, installed a red beat bar in the grill, install red lights under the bed rails. I'm in the process of getting a lift put on my truck it is a 4" lift and i'm saving up for that so i don't have any money to spend on other things. After i bought all the red lights and install i had a little over 40 bucks and it looks awesome.. can't wait till my lift comes in..
Well I dunno if they are under 40 bucks... but some red hoses for the engine compartment would look cool. You could also paint your brake capilers... or even your taillights (look at my pics). Clear corners are always a plus.

I 2nd the red hoses part. Buy some colored split loom from Pep Boys or somewhere. I did mine, total cost was around $30.

Let's see, I got Cyber Eyes, 4 Window Vent-visors, and clear corners all for under $40 each. Good luck! There is always the fog light mod and new headlights too! Do you have pics of your mods?

Those round bubble stick on mirrors that you put on your outside rear view mirrors to help eliminate blind spots
$4.00 for a pair and hopefully will prevent me from getting into an accident
Sylvania Silvestar bulb replacement (under $40 bucks if you buy on E-bay)
tinting front widows $40.00
watching my buddy fall out of my Sequoia as he was getting out when he had too much to drink.....PRICELESS
I don't advise the blind spot mirrors. They may help visibility some, but take more time to see what is in the blind spot then actually looking. I recommend just taking a quick look then moving over when safe. I tried the blind spot mirrors on my first truck, a Chevy (should be pronounced Sh*ty) S-10. Don't laugh. They helped some, but nothing beats playing it safe and looking.
As for my suggestions, it all depends on your needs and what you are going for. You could do a mild graphic treatment by adding pinstripes in a complimentary color, or a neutral color such as white, black, silver/chrome or gold. That can be done for about $20, or less. There are also other mods, such as clear corners on the front which from ebay ran me about $37 with shipping, some of the electrical mods (which I haven't personally looked into yet), or other treatments for the vehicle. One of the best investments though I can recommend is a good, high-quality, high carnuba (sp?) content wax. I use mine on my truck every 6 months or less and it looks as good as the day I drove it off the lot. I also am very particular with my truck. The only places that have any noticeable scratches or scrapes is in the bed, and on the outside of the tailgate. My next mod is going to be a either a cross body box or a sprayed in bedliner.
Thanks for all the reply's i went to the local AutoZone and got some red hoses it was 5.99 for like a 1/2 inch and 4.99 for a 1/4 inch. you got 10 feet of hoses in each pack. I put that on it makes the engine look pretty good. I also picked up some red paint and painted the medal piece that holds the battery in place and then i painted all the vent in the truck with krylon plastic paint 4 bucks a can. (gotta rub some paint thinner on the vent to take off the shine before painting it) then i got red covers and made the light in the speedo red and the light behind the vent controls and all that red. I also kinda spent the lift kit money .... i got a sony Xplod cd player that change color i got it sit on red to match every thing. i got four 6 1/2 memphis speakers and put in each door took out the stock ones .. got a 450 watt memphis amp and a 15 in Kicker Comp sub. it sounds great.
I'm glad I got my blind spot mirrors. For me it's easier to take a quick glance to see if there's a vehicle in my blind spot than it is to turn my head. When I look at the blind mirror, I'm not trying to look on the make and model just to see if there is anything there.
Get a cheap pair of lights($20) and install them under your hood. I haven't done it yet but want to.
