Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Slight Problem with the Heater temp control dial", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
So I was tearing apart the dash to install a new stereo, and low and behold the heater dial is now loose when I put it back on. I looked at it and the others, and it appears that there is a little tab in the dial to keep tension on the post. It's not there on the heater dial. I don't know if it broke off when I removed, or if the dial was glued in place. It was more difficult to remove then the other two.
My question, has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix the problem? Do I have to go and buy a new set of dials?
This just happened to me the other day, but I haven't been able to fix it (especially since my truck is out for a week or so getting the manual hub conversion). Also, the dial that selects where the air comes out won't turn fully one way, but still works. Anyone know why?

This nuts, my dial that selects if the air is at your head, or feet, or defrost, won't turn all the way to the left. It's like it is stuck and if you try to force it, I think it will snap off. Anybody having this problem and know how to fix it???

all this happen to me after I installed my radio. if the knob is very hard to turn, take off the bezel and look how the cable is routed. i had mine crimped somehow.
if the knob is very lose and feels like it is going to fall off just look on the carpet and ground for the little clip. sometimes it can be on the knob itself. I hope this helps.
don't force it or you will be out $300+ for a new assembly. You probably have a cable binding up and need to free/replace it (if you kinked it bad)... the cables are only about $20 each to replace...
