Default Post a pic of your rear end! (truck's rear end)

Post a pic of your truck's rear end. I'm trying to get ideas about rear lights and the like while I am getting my truck repaired.

Jbtoy, Like that rear end. Did you brush, airbrush, or spray the trim of the lights?

Give me some good shots of those rear ends folks!

Crystaleyes clear:

I dumped the Crystaleyes because the chrome came off of the exposed area beyond the clear lens. Looked like it had worn off, but I hadn't even waxed the truck with them installed and generally use either the touch-free car wash or a lambswool mitten. I would not recommend an assembly that has chrome exposed to the elements... you want the black trim like the stockers.

Thanks. I had the lights sprayed and cleared. Matches very well. (I also did the covers in the engine bay, like brake, PS, MAF etc the same way....no billet available, so next best thing)

I like the smoked ones, where did you get them? I don't want to get my next set from ebay if I can get away with that, I want a warrenty. Do you think that would go with the color of my truck?

I kind of want something darker too.

Keep the pics of your rear end coming!

I've got some in my gallery with roll pan and clear tails. I think you're right about the smoked looking good with yours, although John's look great on his.

I did get them from ebay, and the place (in El Monte) RIPS you on shipping, but my Crystaleyes were so bad that I had to do something, and the OEM light was cracked from when I got backed into the 3rd day I had the truck (what made the dent in the corner by the bumper).

SteveG used to sell the Z2000's at Carson Toyota in clear/chrome, smoked, and carbon fibre (faked, but decent on a black truck), but honestly, I don't know if he would offer anything more in the way of a warranty than an ebay seller... if he still has them. Won't hurt to check though.

I think either the smoked or chrome would look decent on your color... but you could also go to the Toyota dealer and buy the '05 AC lights, which look like the DC but are narrower and a bolt-in for our older trucks. That'll totally keep the factory appearance, but give you an update.

my biggest question about the '05 lights is; will I have to extend any wiring, as the reverse light position is changed from top position to bottom?

I think I might go this route, as the price is not that bad (so in another thread the lights were found at a dealershim somewhere in TX for $98 a side, alot better than other prices I have seen)

Default Stoked

I don't mind Tundra's with aftermarket tail lights, but it just isn't for me...

I have always had this preception that when people put on clear corners or different tail lights, there is usually some kind of engine modification to compensate what they did on the exterior. A lot of times (more than less) this isn't the case... I see people spending money that they could have invested in a nice exhaust system or other engine mod towards "looks". I'm not singling out Tundras for there are PLENTY of civics and other "rice rockets" that are in the same boat. In fact, I have seen maybe 2 Tundras on the road with exterior "enhancements" since I've bought mine.

My point is I like giving other drivers the benefit of the doubt in thinking I have a bone-stock truck because I have no exterior mods (aside from debadging)... they pull up next to me thinking "I got nuthin'" and well... they never pull ahead

Can you see where I'm coming from? tail lights and corner lights will stay stock on my truck. They look pretty darn nice to me!

*Edit* - I seem to be contradicting myself - I stated I have no exterior mods... what do you call my grille? LOL I guess I'm not so "stock" afterall

My rear end pic is in my signature, though it's nothing for you to compare, Mr. Coastie...

you have a good point, and I think it's more why I am thinking of the 2005 lights then anything else.

But there is nothing like a nice clean rear end, and your's looks pretty clean!
