Default Camper shell on 2005 Tacoma?

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to mount a camper shell to the new composite bed? I'm trying to find a way to mount the shell from my old truck ('02 ext. cab) which was bolted to the steel bed rails.

I pulled the plastic bed rail covers off of my '05 last night and didn't like what I saw; instead of sturdy steel bed rails underneath, there is flimsy, thin metal that I can bend with my hands. I can't see how a camper shell can be securely mounted to these bed rails.

My only other option is to mount the shell to the cargo channels inside the bed. Supposedly the stock hooks will hold 250 lbs. each, but I'm not sure if it's safe to mount something on the channels. Has anyone seen the Snugtop shell for the new trucks and how it mounts?

Thanks,
Chris

Isn't the new bed dimensions different? However I seen the new XR with a camper shell on it... It looks slick but the whole shell was carpeted from the inside so I can't get a good look of how it was installed... The bed they left plain tho...

Actually the new bed is pretty close to the old one... it's probably just wide enough that most shells won't fit, but my camper (www.flippac.com) has a 5" margin of error either way, so I have some play.

I just called my Toyota dealer and they claim that nobody makes a shell for the new Tacos. I think Snugtop would disagree...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I drove one with a snugtop on it TWICE LOL...

Toyota has s dumbest of all dealers... Subaru on the other hand has the best dealers (well just the one I got my WRX from anyways)... Everyone at that dealership was a member on i-club and gone out to i-club meets... They even hosted a few!!!

But yeah, snugtop has a bomb camper for the 05 tacos, for those that don't have one, I'd definately take a look if they wanted one... The rear glass does look kinda flimsy and they had a slight misalignment problem the first time i drove the truck... They fixed it the 2nd time around though...

BTW, please share some pics of your camper once you get it up... I'm not a fan of the extra weight, but I do like how the snugtop looked... I might be pursuaded one day when I decide I don't need an open bed...

I called CAMPWAYS, in the east bay and they had the snugtop supersport in stock. They were asking over $1700! The best they could do was $1680. I bought the same camper shell from Toyota when I bought my 05 taco, and got it for $1350 installed.
