Default Swapping chrome for painted mirrors on 05

I have a 05 SR5 DC with Chrome mirrors that seem out of place with the rest of the truck. Are painted inserts available? I think the Ltd. comes std. with color keyed mirrors. Love the truck, hate the mirrors.
Thanks, Traver

I want to do the same thing. cbchief did it to his Tundra and he said he got the inserts on ebay. Just pop the old ones off and pop the new ones on. But I have not found them on ebay, so I don't know where to get them at this point. I'm still searching to find them. I agree, too much chrome.

Default Check out Carson's Toyota in CA

Carson's has some painted mirror covers for about $24 shipped. I got them a year or so ago and love them. I hate chrome. . . it is so hard to keep clean & shiny.

See Painted Mirror Covers.

I am assuming that the '05 covers are the same as '03. Also, when you pop your chrome ones out, do it from behind the mirror, not by prying. You can sell the chrome covers on TS. I fetched at least $10 or $15 for mine. If you want to know how to pop the mirror covers without hurting the plastic tabs, follow the directions for the Muth Turn Signal Mirror mod to access them. It is kind of scary, but the glass mirror parts just pop out of the mirror housing, exposing the inside of the housing and allowing one to remove the outer mirror covers safely. I did this mod myself and it wasn't that hard.
